𝑷𝑩𝑰𝑩𝑺 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒐𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆.

Due to the extensive travels beforehand, I had picked up a slight cold, which did not improve during my few days at home in the Estonian early spring seaside weather, so I arrived in Florida fully sick, with a slight fever and no voice. Nothing contagious, but with a terrible cold.

When on board, nobody really cares if you are feeling poorly or sad; in extreme scenarios, the charter show must go on even when you have broken your little toe or your grandmother has just passed away... And I understood it is the heritage of my yachting days that made me push through - choosing duty over health, not letting down the team (my company), not disappointing the guests (agreed appointments). Hospitality professionals are wired to give care and may fail miserably if in need of some themselves. PBIBS showed me that I am not out of those woods yet.

I still tried to do my best to connect and see friends Lürssen, American Yacht Agents, Yacht Chandlers, Lateral Naval Architects (forever grateful to Debora Radtke for sharing her home and pups with me and putting up with my cough!), Victoria Chalaya, International Marine Management, ACREW, Ian Westman, Clarissa Androsoni, Alison Vassallo. Support colleagues who have achieved beautiful milestones - Carla Guilhem, Andreas Iseli, Marcel Selker & 𝐒𝐢𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐞, Yacht Femme and meet inspiring new people - Maureen Bloecker, Michael Moore, Döhle Yachts, Arrow, SHADOWCAT and Oceanco.

I did this all with half days and early nights, long breaks, and - maybe listening and observing more this time than acting and talking.

𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲.

It was kind of symbolic that I did not have my voice, and this made me think about . They are too, present, beautiful but their voice is still not heard loudly enough. To speak up, one needs a voice and, someone to listen.
And this got me to another important realisation: Holistic Yacht Interiors has taken the big white elephant to the Main Salon and given it a name. Holistic is not a company to convert stagnant people or squeeze into systems that are set in their old ways of doing things, because they can get away with it or they do not know any better.

It was brought to life to collaborate with other like-minded people, the hashtag and who understand the connection between and , and , and who will drive the change and set new , so that input is no longer a case of 𝐡𝐢𝐭 & 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬, but a solid every and can expect and deserve.

You know who you are and I cannot wait to work together! 💜

Humbled to be part of it!

Over £80,000 raised in one evening! ✨

A fantastic result from The Superyacht Charities Foundation Ball last weekend, bringing together the people behind the yachting industry to support some truly meaningful causes.

Heirlooms’ Ruth and Eva had a great evening catching up with friends and colleagues, pictured here with Meeli of Holistic Yacht Interiors, and Helen and Sarah from Winch Design.

We were proud to contribute a selection of Heirlooms linens as prizes for the evening - thanks to everyone that came along and donated!

❄️ ❄️ ❄️ 𝑯𝑶𝑳𝑰𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑪 𝑮𝑶𝑬𝑺 𝑻𝑶 𝑲𝑰𝑻𝒁𝑩Ü𝑯𝑬𝑳! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

When I was little girl, I was fearless on my tiny plastic skis. I went downhill no matter how steep or icy it was, even when there was barely any snow at all. Survival instinct, as we know, is not always fully developed in children.

About 20 years later, I was convinced mountain skiing was 𝒎𝒚 thing. Well, having all the colour fade from my face in horror at the height of the slope shattered that illusion fast, and it took a whole day to come down from the piste, hot tears of fear and shame running down my cheeks.

But if giving up is not in your nature, you try again. You practice more. You choose slopes that feel manageable. Ask people who have your back to join you. Turn by turn, confidence returns.

Isn’t this exactly how business works, especially at the beginning of a new year? Enthusiasm gets us into the gondola. The views inspire courage. But standing alone at the top is always uncomfortable. The plan says it will be smooth, yet experience tells that some parts are for sure going to be red, or even black... Still, over the edge we go, adjusting our speed, trusting our technique and hoping it will work out. Because without taking a risk, there is no point of doing anything, really.

There is certainly nothing scary in reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones from the industry in beautiful Austria - a country I have a bit of a soft spot anyway. And if the pistes do become too steep, there is always way with a hot cocoa under the bright alpine sun.

This is a conversation about the inner side of my work and my journey from being a crew to creating Holistic Yacht Interiors.

Ana Čalić ´s such well formed questions brought out the thoughts and feelings in me, so I felt comfortable sharing the parts of the path that don’t always get spoken aloud. About the experiences that grow us, the moments that slow us down, and make change course.

It seems that my path is about connecting things that don’t usually connect: like theology and yachting, leading years later to deep reflection with the very practical realities of yacht build and operations.
That’s why I created my company Holistic Yacht Interiors, to bridge beauty and function, vision and daily life, owners and crew.

𝐀 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐘𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 — 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞. So, how has it been?

𝑹𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏. My operational CV was, let’s say (modestly 😎 ), one of the strongest in the industry. But when you step out with your own brand, that is not where the story starts. You might think people know you, yet you find yourself introducing who you are all over again through the voice of your brand.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 - 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄. Intriguing to some, maybe even a little ahead of its time. Six months ahead, perhaps. In reality, perfectly on time. Yes, there are those who, after the third happy hour at the boat show, ask if I do deep breathing and balance chakras. I can organise that too. But most understand that holistic means whole. Energy matters, always, but there is nothing esoteric about looking at the big picture.

𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚. This is what carries you and holds you. Without the years of building connections, it would be very, very difficult, perhaps impossible, to have your voice heard. Thank you to my 2000+ connections on , to the friends who have moved from business email to personal WhatsApp, and to the new, inspiring people I meet daily both online and in person.

𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. I have been noticed, invited, and welcomed into some of the most innovative initiatives and gatherings. Water Revolution Foundation, The Superyacht Group to mention few. Thank you. There is so much to talk about. I have also rediscovered that writing is my thing, and I plan to return to it more often.

𝑬𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. The purpose of my company is to bridge interior construction and operation, to look after the end users, to connect the stakeholders, and to make land and sea speak to each other. This view is not new. In truth, it has been the elephant in the room. Speaking about it openly finally, is refreshing.

𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕? To connect, inspire and improve, towards better yacht interiors. Simple, even if its not easy. 🙂

By the way, the launch happened to fall on my name day on the 12th of September. I like to think it was a small sign from the universe. So here is to many more years for Holistic Yacht Interiors.

𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞.

The recent wonderful 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘈𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 in Venice celebrated excellence in design but behind the glamour, one question remains: how often is operational function truly judged on par with visual form?

When the operational know-how is involved 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒚 and 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒚, we don’t design for crew - we design 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 them, building for operational sanity for the yacht’s success in the long run.

Because whether you're an Owner or operator, wasted hours become wasted experience. You get a yacht built for the Owner but not for reality.

It’s not a lack of budget, it’s a lack of reality checks. Because when you design in a vacuum, without those who live the outcome, you don’t get innovation. You get expensive inconvenience, operational fatigue and mistakes costing millions. But when the people who run the yacht aren’t heard, mistakes get hardwired into steel. 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘸 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮, 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴.

Build beauty, naturally. But make sure it works because until operational flow is valued as visibly as aesthetics, we’re not awarding yachts - we’re awarding façades.
