What do users really want from a smart tiny house experience?

Through interviews with tiny house owners, we gained insight into how tiny houses are used in everyday life, the challenges users encounter and how smart technology could better support them.

We also explored which smart home features are currently used in smart apartments and what that experience is like.��The insights we gathered are shaping smart tiny house experiences that prioritise simplicity, reliability, and meaningful functionality.��

Exciting progress is happening in our Smart Tiny House project 🏠💡.

While our partner in Tinyhouse.lv has been working on the cabling and wiring of the demo house, our team in Tartu has been focused on something as important, building a dedicated hardware and software laboratory for smart home development.

Before any smart technology reaches the tiny house, every device is thoroughly tested, programmed, and validated in our lab. This allows us to ensure that all systems work seamlessly before installation begins.

Once testing and programming are complete, the pre-configured hardware kits are shipped to the manufacturing workshop in Latvia, where they are installed in the house.

This approach reduces on-site errors, speeds up installation, simplifies future maintenance, and helps ensure that the smart tiny house performs exactly as intended.

Step by step, we're turning the vision of an intelligent, energy-efficient tiny house into reality.

Smart Tiny House: Cross-Border Innovation in Action!

We recently hosted our Estonian partners from Mobi Lab Mobi Lab right here in Latvia for our 2nd face-to-face meeting! It was an intensive and productive two days dedicated to pushing the boundaries of sustainable, smart living.

📍 Highlights from the Visit:

🏚️Demo House Inspection: We gathered at tinyhouse.lv to tour the property and the demo house. It was a fantastic opportunity to see the physical progress of our pilot site.

⚒️Smart Integration: Hands-on sessions led by Martin and Veiko focused on cable application for smart house functionality, ensuring our tiny houses are as intelligent as they are efficient.

🖊️Strategic Alignment: We reviewed the progress of every work package, ensuring our joint Estonian-Latvian efforts are perfectly synced to deliver standardized, integrated smart home packages.

A big thank you to both teams for the energy and expertise brought to the table! 🙌

Cross-Border Innovation in Action!

We recently visited our Latvian partners at tinyhouse.lv for our 2nd face-to-face meeting! It was an intensive and productive two days dedicated to pushing the boundaries of sustainable, smart living.

The smart tiny house is no longer just an idea — it’s becoming a reality.

Together with our Latvian partner Tinyhouse.lv, the physical structure is already taking shape in their workshop, while we at Mobi Lab are developing the smart solutions that will bring it to life.

This demo house will be more than a prototype. It will serve as a living test environment — a space to explore, validate, and demonstrate how smart technology can seamlessly support compact living. From energy management to everyday convenience, every detail is designed with real users in mind.

And this is only the beginning.

We’re excited to share that we’ve started a new collaboration with tinyhouse.lv on the Smart Tiny House project.

tinyhouse.lv is a Latvian company that designs and builds high-quality tiny houses, focusing on sustainable living.

Together, we’re developing simple and affordable smart home solutions for tiny houses. The project will combine smart technology with high-quality tiny house construction to create pre-designed packages that are affordable and easy to install. As part of the project, we’ll also build a demo smart tiny house to test and showcase the solution.

We’re excited to share more as the project develops!
