You will lead the discovery, development, and translation of microbial and plant-derived bioactive compounds into commercially viable biocontrol products.
At Chitosan Egypt, we are building a new R&D direction focused on chemistry of natural products, translating research outcomes into products that compete with leading global players in the field.
Responsibilities:
1. Discovery, Screening & Product Development:
- Lead research on natural bioactive compounds (microbial, plant-derived) with biocontrol potential (antifungal, antibacterial, elicitors, etc.)
- Design and execute screening programs for identifying promising strains, extracts, or compounds.
- Optimize formulation parameters (stability, delivery systems, compatibility)
2. Lab-to-Field Translation
- Work closely with agronomy teams to validate performance under real conditions
- Iterate between lab results and field feedback
3. Process Development & Scale-Up:
- Develop scalable processes for fermentation, extraction, and purification
- Optimize yield, cost-efficiency, and reproducibility
- Support transition to pilot and industrial scale
4. Grants, Partnerships & External Collaboration:
- Lead or contribute to grant proposals and funded projects
- Represent the company in scientific and innovation ecosystems
Qualifications:
1. Education: PhD in Microbiology, Chemistry of Natural Products, Biotechnology, or related field
2. Experience: 10+ years of research experience, with strong exposure to:

4. Biocontrol Agents and Crop Protection.
