Anyone can ask, Why our name is ElNagui Group? Our firm was founded in 1800 by “Mr. Osman Basha El Nagui” in Turkey. Our firm was called (El Nagui Ship Owners & Traders). “Mr. Osman Basha El Nagui” was succeeded by himself and his sons (“Tag ElDin”, “Sief”, “Farahat”, “Raslan”, and "Salem”).
“Mr. Osman Basha El Nagui” was a self made man, He was an Istanbul governor and was built his family business with himself. In 1842, the founders were eventually succeeded by a Lebanese partner called “Mr. Joe Ellia” and the two partners make a big branch in Syria. In 1860 the firm was changed after the passing away of “Mr. Osman Basha El Nagui”, so his sons (“Tag ElDin”, “Sief”, “Farahat”, “Raslan” and “Salem”)
Mr.Salem Basha El Nagui was a Halab governor become in charge with “Mr. Joe Elia” and moved to Egypt. Joe Ellia” passed away and the name of our firm was changed to be “El Nagui for Engineering & Trading” .
“Mr. Salem Basha El Nagui” become together with his sons (“Abd El Latif”, “Mahrous”, “Fouad”, “Fares”, “Elias” and “El Sayed Nagui "( our grand father ) .
“Fouad” was engineer , “Fares” was ship owner , “Abd Ellatif” , “Elias” & “El Sayed Nagui” were lawyers who had gained substantial experience in Maritime Law through practicing in their countries & Paris (The country of origin), and were soon appointed by nearly all the Ship-owners’ Protection & Indemnity Associations as their correspondents in the ports of Egypt. They quickly built up a successful practice before the so-called “ Egyptian Mixed Court ”. These Courts were international Court of a specific kind, as although they applied the Egyptian Law Codes deriving chiefly from the French Code, the judges sitting there in included Egyptian judges as well as foreign judges from various countries and their jurisdiction extended to legal disputes whenever foreign interests (including individuals and corporate bodies) were involved. In 1900 the youngest son of “Mr. Salem Basha El Nagui” (“El-Sayed Nagui Basha”) become as a powerful partner and become the chairman of our firm and he was eventually succeeded by an English & French Partners like “Mr. Baker” & “Mr. The Firm was made a good history in Maritime, Commercial, Civil, and Criminal Laws in Egyptian Mixed Courts The Firm were called “El Nagui Law Office”. The Firm was adapted itself since 1949 to the new jurisdictional changes, continued to act as correspondents for most of the Ship-owners’ Protection and Indemnity Associations, and as lawyers and Consultants for most of the Ship-owners whose Ships were trading with Egyptian ports, including the Egyptian State-owned Shipping Corporations. In 1950, “Mr. El-Sayed Nagui Basha” has sons (“Tag Eldin”, “Farouk”, “Said”, “Sabry”,”Ehsan”, “Ragaa”, and “Ferial”).
“Mr. Farouk El Nagui” the lawyer who had joined the firm with his father, brothers and his friends like “Mr. Ramsey Omar”, “Mr. Yahiya Hussein”, “Mr. Joseph Couplet”, “Mr. Jose Mikhalieds”, “Mr. Hassan Abo Mandour”. He became a senior partner after the passing away of “Mr. Elsayed Nagui Basha”. The 1970’s saw a significant expansion with offices opening in Alexandria & Cairo to provide a wide range of services for clients operating in that area.
