Workshop Theme: Reimagining Waste

Learn how to turn recycled plastic into unique objects through hands-on techniques like mold creation and explore sustainable design practices. This workshop also features a Design Thinking session, guiding you to transform local plastic waste into creative solutions.

A new workshop begins in the Eco Fab ! for 6 sessions, come attend and contribute to the building of some pieces of art out of recycled plastic with and ! it starts monday at 3:30 pm and continues tuesday and wednesday for this week ! 🤠♻️🎨

رنا حمدان هي معمارية مصرية تبلغ من العمر 27 عامًا، وفنانة معاصرة علمت نفسها بنفسها، ورسامة جدارية، ورسامة، ومصممة أغلفة كتب وألبومات، ونحاتة، ومتحدثة في TEDx ثلاث مرات. تخرجت من كلية الهندسة بجامعة الإسكندرية عام 2021، وتخصصت في الهندسة المعمارية والبناء. شاركت رنا في 30 معرضًا دوليًا ومحليًا، وأقامت 3 معارض فردية، وباعت أكثر من 200 عمل فني في جميع أنحاء العالم، ورسمت العديد من الجداريات، بما في ذلك التعاون مع جامعة إكستر في المملكة المتحدة، ووزارة الصحة في مصر، وسيلانترو مصر، والمتحف الوطني بالرياض، وجامعة الملك فهد للبترول والمعادن في المملكة العربية السعودية، وقدمت العديد من ورش العمل الفنية، وظهرت إلى جانب أعمالها الفنية في العديد من الصحف والمجلات والمقابلات التلفزيونية المحلية والدولية. في إطار مشروع PECA، تم اختيار رنا لتكون واحدة من فنانين اثنين للذهاب في إقامة في فرنسا. ستكون مناسبة لتعاون جديد بين Ecofab و Milvi و Sauvage. ترقبوا نتيجة إقامتها!

Rana Hemdan is a 27-year-old Egyptian architect, self-taught contemporary artist, muralist, illustrator, book and album cover designer, sculptor, and a three-time TEDx speaker. She graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University in 2021, majoring in architecture and construction. Rana has participated in 30 exhibitions internationally and locally, held 3 solo exhibitions, sold over 200 artworks worldwide, painted several murals, including collaborations with the University of Exeter in the UK, the Ministry of Health in Egypt, Cilantro Egypt, the National Museum of Riyadh and the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, she gave several art workshops, and been featured alongside her artworks in several local and international newspapers, magazines, and TV interviews. Within the framework of the PECA Project, Rana was selected to be one of two artists to go on a residency in France. It will be an occasion for a new collaboration between the Ecofab, Milvi et Sauvage. Stay tuned for the result of her residency!

For closing the residencies in the Eco Fab for the year 2024, the showcase of miki nectoux's residency mikidisign of milvi.org Precious Plastic Provence will take place on Tuesday 10th September 2024 from 5pm to 7pm at the french institute of alexandria, room massignon. Institut français d'Egypte à Alexandrie

Miki will present some of his work made in alexandria with plastic and with the solar rotomoulding he built in the Eco Fab ! You are all welcome !

ميكي نيكتو هو مهندس معماري ومصمم فرنسي يقيم في جنوب فرنسا، آرل. متخصص في ممارسات التصميم التعاوني، وهو يستكشف منذ عام 2019 موضوعًا محددًا للغاية حول ممارسات إعادة الاستخدام: إعادة تدوير البلاستيك باستخدام تقنيات منخفضة (البلاستيك الثمين). قام بتأسيس منظمة MILVI لهذا الموضوع بالذات، ببناء مقطورة تعليمية بطول 5 أمتار لجلب إعادة تدوير البلاستيك إلى المدارس والأسواق. يأمل ميكي في نقل حركة "البلاستيك الثمين" مفتوحة المصدر إلى عصر جديد: جعل إعادة تدوير البلاستيك محايدة تمامًا للطاقة. تابع التطوير المستقبلي لمشروع FREENERGY على www.milvi.org

Miki Nectoux is a French architect and designer based in the South of France, Arles. Specializing in collaborative design practices, since 2019 he explores a very specific topic about reuse practices : recycling plastics with low techs (Precious Plastic). Founding the organisation MILVI for this very topic, he builds a 5 meters long educational trailer to bring plastic recycling to schools and marketplaces. Miki hopes to bring the open source movement Precious Plastic to a new era : making plastic recycling completely energy neutral. كلوي ديمانجيل، مصممة متخصصة في إعادة استخدام المواد.
تخرجت في تصميم المنسوجات في Beaux Arts de Lyon، وتوجهت إلى عالم ماكر (Maker) من خلال تجاربها في مختلف معامل التصنيع (Fablabs) والأماكن الثالثة حيث يعتبر الإبداع والمشاركة مفاهيم أساسية.
اكتشفت وجربت تقنية البلاستيك المعاد تدويره في معمل التصنيع كورتي (Fablab de Corte) ، شريك Precious Plastic.
لقد استحوذت عليها تقنية الخلق هذه و ما يحيط بها من قيم.
ثم أنشأت علامة تجارية "Sosho Studio" حيث تبيع إبداعاتها ومجوهراتها وإكسسواراتها المصنوعة من البلاستيك المعاد تدويره.

Chloé Demangel, is a designer specializing in the reuse of materials.
A graduate in textile design at the Beaux Arts de Lyon, she turned to the Maker universe through her experiences in various Fablabs and third places where creation and sharing are essential notions.
She discovered and experimented with the recycled plastic technique at Fablab de Corte, partner of Precious Plastic .
She was won over by this creation technique and the whole universe and values ​​that come close to it.
She then created a brand, “Sosho Studio” where she sells her creations, jewelry, accessories made from recycled plastic.

التصميمات التي نفذتها الفنانة المقيمة إيميلين لافوكيت هي عبارة عن رسومات ومجموعة من الأشكال المستوحاة من العمل الفني، فسيفساء ميدوسا، التي تم اكتشافها في عام 1994 أثناء أعمال التنقيب في مسرح ديانا بالإسكندرية والمعروضة حاليًا في متحف الاسكندرية القومي.

تم إعادة تجميع التفاصيل وقطع الأشكال أو حتى التركيبات من فسيفساء ميدوسا لإنشاء منتجات جديدة والتفكير في استخدامات جديدة. رأت إيميلين وجود صلة محتملة لاستكشافها بين المظهر المجزأ للفسيفساء، مثل تلك الموجودة في ميدوسا، والملمس المرقط للألواح البلاستيكية المعاد تدويرها والذي يقترب من التنقيط. تم عرض المنتجات التي تم تصميمها خلال فترة الإقامة الفنية في معرض أقيم في المعهد الفرنسي المصري بالإسكندرية يوم 23 يوليو.

The designs realized by the resident artist Emeline Lavocate are drawings and a repertoire of shapes inspired by the work of art, the Medusa mosaic, discovered in 1994 during excavations of the Diana Theater in Alexandria and currently displayed in Alexandria National Museum.

Details, pieces of shapes or even compositions from the Medusa mosaic were recombined to create new objects and to think of new uses. She saw a potential link to explore between the fragmented appearance of a mosaic, like that of the Medusa, and the speckled texture of the recycled plastic plates which is close to pointillism. The created products of the artistic residence were displayed in the restitution that took place in the French Institut in Alexandria on the 23rd of July.
