I’ve been craving real connection lately.

As we’re all building businesses and spending more and more time online, my hunger for human to human time has only increased.

This week has been full of it, and my heart is so full.

Shout out to Rebecca Hawkins, ACC, Sandy Lamb, Julie Miller Davis, Betsy Clark, Kathi Philpot, Jill Keiken, Katie Sevenants, & Becky Clabaugh for the deep conversations, real hugs, and laughs as we talked business and life this week.

Truly a magical place.

Gorgeous canals, especially at night

The windmills in the countryside

Indoneisan rijstafel, cheese, bitterballen, fresh stroopwafel, mini pancakes, and Jeremy even trying raw herring…

The wildness of the red light district and the quietness of the begijnhoven(a quiet sanctuary where religious women lived together in community)

The vibrant multiculturalness (not a word, I know) of the city, the celebration of global pride…

We had a blast in Delft.

After Italy, which was insanely hot and humid, it was pure bliss to be in a place with weather in the upper 60s.

Delft - which is where Jeremy was attending the international system dynamic conference - is super close to Rotterdam and The Hague. So, while he was conferencing, I was side-questing.

Rotterdam was completely destroyed during WWII, and as a result, the city architects decided to rebuild in a completely new way. All the building are super unique, including the yellow cube houses and the massive arched food hall with the painted bread basket ceiling. I also hit up a cool studio where an Egyptian-Dutch artist sells her work and snagged a few prints. Thank you, Instagram suggestions 🤣

Next up was The Hague, a place I’ve wanted to go for ma y years. Home to the Peace Palace, the international criminal court, and soooo much art.

On my way there, Verizon’s global roaming service completely shut down leaving me with no cell service, access to maps, and verrrry limited WiFi. Talk about throw back to old school wayfinding.

I found my way to the peace palace and to the Mauritshuis, the renowned museum that houses a number of Rembrandt and Vermeer paintings, including Girl with the Pearl Earring. It was a true highlight.

Next I spent my final day exploring Delft, home to gorgeous pottery and loads of history, including the life and death place of Vermeer and other artists.

My first experience in The Netherlands has been so so nice. We’re in Amsterdam now! It’s definitely a different vibe but more on that later.

We had the most delightful experience at the Orangerie in Ostuni. This private experience was hosted inside a beautiful greenhouse under a willow tree.

We dined on my new favorite dish - cucumbers with stracciatella, olive oil, salt and pepper, and lemon zest, different cheeses paired with fresh tomatoes and basil and some even watermelon, and loads of local breads.

Each course was paired with a local w**e and my goodness… so good. Plus some homemade digestivi - one was strawberry mint and the other was bitter orange and coffee.

The chef and his family were absolutely lovely and so gracious. They gave us a tour of their property and it was covered with olive, pear, fig, and red and white mulberry trees.

If you’re ever in Ostuni and are looking for a unique and beautiful local experience, I highly recommend this!

I was just named one of 200 women entrepreneurs nationwide on the inaugural V-List (the V-200), recognized for building a business that puts people first.

As a certified Benefit Corporations for Good, putting people first is foundational to how I run my business.

I’ve long believed that women with deep expertise, passion, and capital are the most underutilized force for good in the world. My whole mission is to do something about that, by helping female founders and CEOs articulate what they actually believe and move through the crossroads that have them stuck.

When one woman gets unstuck and moves with conviction, the good she does ripples out to everyone around her. That’s when real impact happens.
