AHK Egypt was proud to be part of several important signing ceremonies on technical education cooperations between Germany and Egypt which took place in Berlin on 20 July 2026. Led by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Abdellatif, Minister of Education and Technical Education وزارة التربية والتعليم المصرية , a high-level delegation from Egypt travelled to Berlin to sign an MoU with the BMZ in the framework of the project GETS (German Egyptian Technical Schools). The initiative aims at establishing 100 GTES schools in Egypt. The signatories were Minister Abdellatif and State Secretary Nils Annen of the BMZ.

The AHK was invited to join as part of “Team Germany” in the field of technical vocational training and was represented by CEO Maren Dale-Schellschmidt and Dr. Mona Ayoub, Director of the Competence Center Skills and Training. We were especially proud that the three private sector representatives who also signed agreements with the Minister of Education at the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin for taking over the establishment and operation of 10 GETS schools each, are leading members of AHK Egypt:, Eng Ahmed Elsewedy, President and CEO of Elsewedy Electric - also AHK Board member and former AHK President, Mr. Sami Saad, Owner of Samcrete Investment and Ms. Leyla Hosny from Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, representing Mr. Naguib Sawiris, from Orascom Construction PLC .
All three here companies already run successful dual TVET trainings programs following the German model and certified by AHK. After the Signing Ceremonies, the delegation and relevant German partners were invited by Ambassador Mohamed El Badri for a networking lunch at the Embassy and jointly visited the vocational training center of S Bahn Berlin. The day ended with an MoU signing between the Egyptian Ministry and the German Federal State of Saxony.

A truly successful visit which certainly will be a pivotal step towards strengthening the bilateral cooperation!

AHK Egypt July Morninground

We were joined by Dr. Dennis-Jonathan Mann, Counselor for Political Affairs, Deputy Head of the Economic Department, German Embassy in Egypt and Christian Kuhn, Deputy Head of the Economic Department at the German Embassy in Cairo, and Ehab Eissa, Head of Global Network Banking at HSBC Egypt.

During the session, Ehab Eissa shared HSBC's positive outlook on Egypt’s economy, highlighting ongoing reforms, strong economic fundamentals, and growing investor confidence. He emphasized Egypt’s potential to strengthen its position as a leading investment hub in the MENA region, while providing participants with valuable insights into key market trends and investment opportunities.

Following the successful completion of the WiSo course, the Egyptian trainers who attended the course from December 2025 to January 2026 took their final examination in February 2026, with successful participants completing the certification process.

To mark this occasion, the AHK Vocational College team organized a certificate handover ceremony at the AHK premises on 28 June, with the participation of the Goethe Institute Vocational College team.
