New PMP Exam (ECO 2026)
Heads up, future PMPs โ the exam officially
changes on July 9, 2026. ๐จ
Starting July 9, PMI launches the new PMP exam built on the 2026 Exam Content Outline and aligned with the PMBOKยฎ Guide 8th Edition. Here's what actually changes:
โข The domain weights shift big time. People drops from 42% to 33%, Process from 50% to 41%... and Business Environment jumps from 8% to 26%. That "skim it in a weekend" domain is now a quarter of your exam.
โข Two new question formats: case study sets (one detailed scenario, several linked questions) and enhanced matching (drag answers onto a chart or grid).
โข AI shows up as a project reality โ leading teams that use AI tools and knowing where human judgment stays in the loop.
โข Value delivery takes center stage. On time and under budget means nothing if the value isn't there.
The good news? About 80% of what the current exam tests carries straight over. The situational style, the fundamentals โ all of it stays.
Taking your exam before July 8? Nothing changes for you. Book it and get it done.
We broke down every change โ the new weights, all 8 question types, and a clear before-or-after decision guide โ right here: ๐
