SEKEM has been promoting sustainable growth, community development and social entrepreneurship for almost 4 decades., Sekem will establish its Entrepreneurship Center, to serve social entrepreneurs across Egypt with a special focus on Sekem and HU communities. Sekem is proud to announce the establishment of “Entrepreneurship Center for Social Impact” as a key milestone towards achieving its vision

: the sustainable development of individual consciousness, economic solidarity, social justice, and environmental balance in Egypt and the world. The Entrepreneurship Center for Social Impact, aims to be the engine for creating sustainable startups , that can create growing financial profits and social impact in both local and global markets. The Center will provide tailored, sector-specific support to potential entrepreneurs to shine and receive the needed capabilities to help them compete and grow in today’s world. This support includes capacity building trainings, access to work spaces, access to experts in different technological and business fields, tailored advisory as well as access to industry knowledge and private sector investments. The Center will also leverage SEKEM’s extensive network of professors, experts and industry partners to raise the capacities of potential entrepreneurs and to facilitate their access to markets. The Entrepreneurship Center for Social Impact’s Objectives:
• To become the driver and creator of disruptive start-ups and growing companies based on high level of innovation and can add both developmental impact and financial growth,
• To leverage the resources of the private sector as it becomes the client, the supplier and the financier of the start-ups and growing companies,
• To design and implement entrepreneurship support programs that are sector specific, thus that can provide deep, focused and efficient support services that can eventually lead to the development of entire value chains. The Entrepreneurship Center’s Value proposition: We provide tailored, sector-specific, industry- and academia-driven support for potential entrepreneurs both from within Sekem and HU communities and outside who aim to create social impact through sustainable technologies and business models.

✨Heliopolis University’s Entrepreneurship Center for Social Impact hosted the CircuPack Sustainable Packaging Hackathon, in collaboration with Averroes Ventures and with support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Egypt.

Held over two intensive days, the event brought together university students, SEKEM Vocational Training Center students, technical experts and representatives from agri-food industry in a hands-on, immersive experience designed to guide participants from understanding real industry challenges to designing circular, market-ready solutions.

💡With technical guidance form the Chemistry Team, participants tackled packaging challenges in the agri-food sector from a circular economy perspective by mapping material flows, identifying value leakage points, and redesigning systems through structured innovation pathways, including:

🔸 Fast-Track Solutions for immediate improvements in recycling and design-for-recyclability
🔸Research and development projects focused on bio-based and biodegradable materials
🔸 Addressing MENA-specific waste management challenges
