USW HOSTS RAMADAN DINNER (IFTAR)
On July 30, USW/Cairo office Iftar was hosted at Le Palais ballroom at Le Pacha 1901 restaurant. During this unique annual gathering, Regional Vice President, Mark Samson and USW staff had the chance to meet with roughly 85 contacts from Cairo, Alexandria, and the surrounding areas who turned out to break their fast at sunset. Attendees included Ministry of Trade and Industry delegates, flour millers from both private and public sectors, traders based in Egypt, and other business contacts that we work with throughout the year. After the meal, many people stayed to talk and enjoy coffee and tea. The evening provided a great opportunity to see and talk with many of our contacts.

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Mark Samson has replaced Dick Prior in the position of Regional Vice President for the Middle East, East and East Africa.
Mr. Samson has returned to U.S. Wheat Associates after serving in U.S. Wheat/Singapore office as Regional Vice President in South Asia for almost twelve years. Then, he moved from USW/Singapore office to the State of Idaho and most recently worked as a Consultant for several of the wheat commissions. Mr. Samson had also worked as the Administrator of the Idaho Wheat Commission.

Millers Seminar - June 18, 2012

Flour Consistency, Wheat Tempering, and Mill Profitability were topics of the Millers' seminar held by USW in Six October City, Cairo-Egypt on June 18th. Peter Lloyd, Regional Technical Director was the main speaker of the seminar in addition to Assistant Regional Director Ian Flagg who presented the current world wheat supply and demand situation.
