After four inspiring days at the 10th Food Africa exhibition, ISIS Organic , a subsidiary of SEKEM Group, had the pleasure of welcoming every partner, customer, and industry leader to our booth.

As the largest annual international trade exhibition for the food and agricultural sector in Egypt, the event serves as a critical platform for regional business and innovation.

It was profoundly inspiring to connect with those who share our unwavering commitment to sustainable and biodynamic excellence. From our natural herbs and date varieties to our high-quality oils, guests experienced the rich flavors and natural goodness inherent.

We especially appreciate the enthusiastic reception to the new iSiS Organic products, crafted using the finest natural ingredients, introduced by our team. We also had stimulating engaging conversations for potential expansion abroad that point toward new markets.

Big News!
Our CEO, Helmy Abouleish, has been honored with the prestigious Sustainability and Environmental Leadership Award by the TAKREEM Foundation. The award was presented at the 14th annual ceremony on November 30, 2025, at the historic Abdeen Palace Museum in Cairo.

Mr. Abouleish was recognized for his visionary leadership of SEKEM Initiative, a global model for holistic sustainable development. SEKEM’s integrated approach successfully champions ecological innovation, community empowerment, and economic vitality, all driven by a commitment to biodynamic agriculture and climate responsibility.

Celebrating Diversity & Inclusion at SEKEM Farm

After months of engaging with SEKEM Vision Goal 15: Diversity, this year’s SEKEM Festival offered a vibrant expression of how every individual contributes to the whole. Returning once again to the heart of our community — SEKEM Farm — the festival brought to life the values we practice every day.

Members of SEKEM community designed and delivered all performances, showcasing the creativity, talent, and commitment found across our initiatives. From farmers and teachers to students, artists, children, and persons with special abilities, every contribution reflected the richness of our shared vision.

How night watering changed our desert fields—and our economics
We used the sun to lift water by day and gravity to irrigate at night from a hilltop reservoir—no diesel, no batteries. Compared to day irrigation, night irrigation on wheat, basil, and beans resulted in 14–20% less water use, 14–20% higher yield, and 24–30% less water per kilogram (m³/kg).

We learned and adapted: a clay-sealed reservoir kept leaking, but a plastic liner solved the issue. We also developed education modules and short films so students can continue learning on the desert farm and help demonstrate the system. Awareness continues, and we hope more farms will try this approach.

The ripple effect: Water saved → more trees planted → carbon credits, which can support farm finances and help scale climate-smart practices.

What began as dialogue in Graz found its grounding in the fertile fields of Stainz and Flamberg. On the final day, participants experienced how ideas of regeneration translate into practice. Walking through biodynamic farms, observing soil health, and learning from farmers’ work, attendees witnessed how ecological, social, and economic regeneration can grow together.

We were honored by the presence of Mayor Karl Bohnstingl of Stainz, who welcomed the group and expressed his appreciation for SEKEM’s holistic approach to sustainability and community building. The visits sparked rich conversations highlighting how conscious practice and collaboration can turn ideas into meaningful action.
Together, we planted seeds for a sustainable future until next time.…

In the coming days, SEKEM’s CEO, Helmy Abouleish, will be in Switzerland to share SEKEM’s holistic vision of sustainable development — a model that began in the Egyptian desert and continues to inspire regeneration around the world.

On October 29, he will join the “Greening the Desert” theme day at the Goetheanum in Dornach (Culturescapes Sahara 2025), exploring how regenerative agriculture, education, and culture can restore life to arid regions.

On October 30, he will give a public lecture in Basel titled “SEKEM: The Miracle in the Desert – A Holistic Path to Sustainability,” highlighting nearly five decades of experience integrating ecology, economy, society, and culture in harmony.

And on October 31, he will speak at the Symposium in Zurich on “The Desert Comes Alive Again: With SEKEM,” connecting the themes of soil, nourishment, and human well-being.

Day 2 invited participants to reflect, co-create, and turn ideas into action. Under the theme “We Are the Change,” the day explored how letting go of old patterns creates space for the new to emerge.

Guided by SEKEM’s vision, participants worked in mixed groups to identify what needs to end and what is ready to be born, combining reflection with dialogue.

In the afternoon, ideas took shape through an open-space format, encouraging active participation and collaboration.

The day concluded with music, and celebration — a reminder that ecological, social, and economic regeneration grows through cooperation and purposeful action.

The SEKEM Festival 2025 kicked off in Graz with a vibrant celebration of vision, sustainability, and regenerative
development, a space to experience the economy of the future. Participants explored pathways toward an ecologically conscious, values-based economy.

A special highlight: SEKEM CEO Helmy Abouleish received the Golden Badge of Honor of the City of Graz from Mayor Elke Kahr, honoring the collective work of everyone advancing SEKEM’s vision worldwide.

The day was filled with inspiring keynotes, interactive sessions, and a panel connecting SEKEM with Austrian changemakers. It ended with music, cultural exchange, and celebration, a perfect reflection of SEKEM’s belief that true progress unites economy, ecology, culture, and community.
