Hello, everyone – and happy December!

Vision
You may have heard that the PMP exam and the associated R.E.P. program training are changing – effective 1 July 2020. Starting on that date, the PMP exam will reflect new exam content.

What?

Every 3 - 5 years, we conduct exhaustive research to understand how the project management profession has progressed, the impact of emerging trends, and how the responsibilities of project managers have changed. We ran a new round of research in 2019 and Subject Matter Experts from leading organizations around the world have worked with us to define the PMP of the future.

Why?

Project management professionals need more diverse skills and approaches than ever before. The PMP is evolving just like the profession – and the new exam will focus on three new domains:

PEOPLE – emphasizing the skills and activities associated with effectively leading a project team
PROCESS – reinforcing the technical aspects of managing a project
BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT – highlighting the connection between projects and organization strategy

Content that spans the value delivery spectrum, including predictive, agile and hybrid approaches, will be included across the three exam domains.

With that in mind, I sat down with Sierra Hampton-Simmons, Portfolio Leader/Head of Certification, to talk about the upcoming changes and what it means both for exam-takers and the R.E.P.s who may be helping them to prepare.

The NEW PMP® Exam Content Outline provides the framework of what you can expect on the PMP Exam beginning 1 July 2020. If you have any questions about how this change may affect you, please contact Customer Care.
