Mount Sinai Permaculture Mount Sinai Permaculture - established in April 2021 - is a permaculture farm and
learning center in the heart of St. Catherine, South Sinai, Egypt.

Catherine, South Sinai’s mountainous area. ‏An area widely renown for its wilderness, beauty, serenity & spirituality. Mount Sinai Permaculture is an ambitious project established - in April 2021 - in the heart of the mountains of St. An area widely renown for its wilderness, beauty, serenity & spirituality. It is home to many different kinds of plants, herbs and wild fruit trees. There is even a list of almost 20 kinds of endemic wild herbs. The project is based on an old abandoned farm that is still hosting a variety of mature fruit trees and some wild herbs. We are aiming to transfer the landscape of the farm by applying permaculture principles and creating food forests and increasing the biodiversity in and around the farm. There is a potential to harvest rainwater, propagate native and wild plants, bring in livestock, improving soil conditions and maximizing the yield the farm can produce. We are keen to be vocal on what we are doing. We want to engage as many people as possible in the planning and the activities run out by the farm. We want to reach out for the local bedouin community as well as for agri-tourists and mountain lovers who want to do something useful and entertaining. We want to be a role model when it comes to issues of sustainability and regenerative agriculture in Sinai. Come visit us and let’s build something together. Have you planted a tree this year??

The pistachio tree in Saint Catherine...

It is a resilient, long-lived tree that tolerates drought and salinity.
It yields a high-value economic crop that could have a powerful impact on reviving the city's economy.

Standing resilient in the rugged mountains of Saint Catherine, the majestic pistachio tree is a living symbol of endurance, beauty, and the rich natural heritage of Sinai.

For generations, these remarkable trees have thrived in one of the harshest environments on Earth, their deep roots drawing life from the mountains while providing shade, food, and shelter to local wildlife.

This ancient tree tells a story of resilience and harmony with nature. As the wind moves through its branches and the granite peaks of Sinai rise in the background, it reminds us of the importance of protecting these unique ecosystems for future generations.
