Happy Friday to you all, hopefully it’s not too hot for you this weekend!

We’ve had a lot of messages regarding TIE Appointments and we are truly trying our best to get appointments but the offices seem to be extremely busy, especially the Alicante office.

So, we will put below some instructions to navigate the Cita website in case some of you would like to have a go yourself and maybe you’ll have a bit more luck than us.

If you do successfully obtain an appointment can you please let us know so we can cross you off our list. Thank you!

When on there scroll to the bottom, click access the procedure and then choose your province.

Where it says TRÁMITES POLICÍA NACIONAL in the middle or NATIONAL POLICE PROCEDURES, click the drop down menu and select TOMMA DE HUELLAS or POLICE . FINGERPRINTING (CARD ISSUANCE).

Then click accept, the next screen will ask if you have a Digital Certificate, if you do click the option on the left. If not click continue without certificate with the option on the right.

Enter your details and continue and request an appointment, it will then either give you available appointments or tell you that there are no appointments available.

Recognised by the Guinness book of records, it’s said that the restaurant Sobrino de Botín in Madrid was founded in 1725 and it had its 300th anniversary in 2025!

Your NLV support should not stop at the border.

An NLV application or renewal is not just about getting a visa approved. It is about understanding the whole process, what is included, what happens next, and what the real overall cost will be.

A lower headline fee can look attractive at first, but it is not always the full story.

One example is private health insurance. This is a key part of the NLV process, and a cheaper service fee may not be much of a saving if the required insurance policy then costs far more than it should.

Before choosing who helps you, it is worth asking:

What is actually included from the start?
Can they answer questions if BLS, the consulate or immigration ask for more information?
Can they help you understand the financial evidence properly?
Can they guide you on suitable private health insurance, and is the policy genuinely competitive?
Can they help with the next steps in Spain, such as the padrón and TIE?
Do they also support NLV renewals, not just the first visa application?
Can they help you understand tax questions linked to becoming resident in Spain?

And if there is a requerimiento, refusal or appeal issue, can they guide you on what to do next?

Is your La Renta being submitted correctly?

La Renta is not just about submitting a tax return. It is about making sure your income is treated correctly and entered in the right place.

One area that is often missed is exempt income with progression, known in Spanish as rentas exentas con progresividad.

This is income that may be exempt from direct tax in Spain, but still has to be included because it can affect the progressive tax rate applied to the rest of your income.

So “exempt” does not always mean “leave it out”.

Pensions, savings interest, rental income, capital gains, autónomo income, overseas income and exempt income can all affect the final result depending on how they are declared.

Spanish tax is personal. Two people with similar income can have very different results depending on their circumstances and how the return is completed.

It is best not to rely on “someone on Facebook paid less”. The question is not just what someone else paid. The question is whether your own return has been submitted correctly.

AEAT also offers La Renta assistance appointments, and this can be a good option if you have all of your information ready and understand what needs to be declared.
