After 3 years of being a VA, here are 3 things I’ve learnt…
1. Even though the industry is different, the support is usually the same.
I’ve worked with all sorts of amazing businesses - care companies, property consultants, creatives…
But when you strip it back,
it’s usually the same kind of support people need.
Keeping things organised.
Staying on top of emails.
Following things up.
Social media support
Different businesses… same pressure points.
2. The wrong opportunities lead you to the right ones.
I’ve had potential clients say no.
I’ve also turned work down myself.
At the time, it feels a bit uncomfortable…
But every time, it’s led me to better-fit clients
the ones where things just work.
3. Trying to be “professional” nearly made me blend in.
When I first started, my posts, my marketing, my whole approach…
just wasn’t me.
I was trying to come across as someone I wasn't.
But, I don't live a conventional life, I move all the time, travel and live in a motorhome, just because that is my lifestyle it doesn't mean I'm not a good VA.
So the moment I realised that and actually started showing up as myself
the right clients started finding me.
3 years in…
And I think the biggest thing I’ve learnt is this..
you don’t need to change who you are to build a business that works.
What do we think of the DIY fringe?
