Yesterday, I was working through the Millionaire Masterminds I've missed - with Millie keeping me company!
These weekly sessions are where people in our business community share their knowledge, experiences and journeys. They finish with the story of someone who has reached one particularly successful milestone. Yesterday, I listened to one of the most raw and emotional stories ever.
This lady was originally from Kerala in India, had lived in the UK and then moved to Australia. She is a full-time nurse and had a second job to help provide for her family. But, her life was falling apart. She was the breadwinner, on the verge of divorce, she felt she no support from her husband or family, they had huge debts and no pensions. She just couldn't see how things could change.
She was in tears throughout. At one point she explained just how low she had been, and how she had thought about finishing things. It was the thought of her children that stopped her and her Faith. Her children were her WHY.
She came across this business and watched it for FIVE years before doing anything. She couldn't understand how ordinary people could be having such success. Was it real? Was it a scam? Was it all made up? But over time she realised the people she was watching were just normal people, mothers like herself, trying to build a better future for their families.
Eventually, without even telling her family, she started. But she was still in such a low place she did nothing for the first eight months. On day, she looked at the training and thought perhaps she could do this. With the help of her mentor and the community around her, she started.
There were setbacks and struggles, but she stayed consistent, she showed up. She did the business on her day off from her two jobs. She started at 61, had no technical skills and, in her own words, barely knew what she was doing with her phone!
She recently achieved that huge milestone in her business. The sadness that the previous milestones, which we all celebrate, she had no-one, not her husband or her family, on her own, just her business community for support.
Her WHY kept her going. She needed to support her children. She had debts to deal with. She had no pension. She wanted something different for her future.
And I have to be honest, her story made me think hard about myself and my own business. She started at around the same time as I did and has gone on to achieve an incredible amount. I know that I haven't always taken my business as seriously as I could have. Life gets in the way, and sometimes I have allowed it to.
But listening to her made me stop and think about MY WHY.
I don't have a pension - I want a better future. I want to travel more, have choices and be able to enjoy the years ahead without worrying that I should have done more when I had the chance.
This woman started at 61, with no technical skills, huge challenges and very little support, yet she kept showing up.
Honestly, if she can come through some of the darkest times imaginable and build herself a future again, then she is an inspiration to all of us.
