Wednesday thought: sometimes the best place to drug a protein is one step before the protein exists.
We spend a lot of time in oncology asking whether a protein is druggable.
But biology gives us another option:
target the RNA that controls when, where and how much of that protein is made.
That is what makes RNA drug discovery so interesting to me.
Not because “RNA is hot”.
But because it opens a different layer of pharmacology — one where structure, translation and regulation can become therapeutic opportunities.
And sometimes, looking one step earlier can lead somewhere entirely new.
