BOILUS Team Our project aims to study the interaction between acoustic fields and boiling in microgravity conditions

Storage of cryogenic propellant at low temperatures in microgravity conditions is a critical process. While in the Earth surface, boiling is an efficient heat transfer process where bubbles are able to move due to the difference in density, in microgravity conditions is the opposite, these bubbles are not able to detach and then they accumulate in stagnant areas. As a consequence of this fact, it

can become dangerous in some aspects such as the tank chill down, the engine restart, the propellant loading and management. Our goal will be to understand and connect the physics of US physics of ultrasound with boiling in microgravity by means of an ultrasound system for heat flux management.
