At Perinet, cover crops are part of the way we understand and work our vineyards.
In an environment like Priorat, where llicorella defines the landscape and the Mediterranean climate is becoming increasingly hotter and drier, we are constantly challenged to rethink how we manage soils and the balance of the vineyard.
That is why we are committed to an active management of cover crops, encouraging biodiversity between the vines. In this way, we help improve soil structure, promote water infiltration, reduce surface evaporation and better understand vineyard behaviour. To manage it, we combine field observation, agronomic monitoring and technology.
This work is also part of the research Toni Sánchez, Perinet’s winemaker and viticulturist, is carrying out in collaboration with the URV, focused on the management of cover crops in organic viticulture under Mediterranean water stress conditions.

En Perinet, la cubierta vegetal forma parte de la manera en que entendemos y trabajamos el viñedo.
En un entorno como el Priorat, donde la llicorella marca el paisaje y el clima mediterráneo es cada vez más cálido y seco, nos vemos obligados a replantearnos constantemente cómo gestionamos los suelos y el equilibrio de la viña.
Por eso apostamos por una gestión activa de la cubierta vegetal, favoreciendo la biodiversidad entre las cepas. Así ayudamos al suelo a mejorar su estructura, favorecer la infiltración del agua, reducir la evaporación superficial y entender mejor el comportamiento de la viña. Para gestionarla, combinamos observación de campo, seguimiento agronómico y tecnología.
Este trabajo también forma parte de la investigación que Toni Sánchez, enólogo y viticultor de Perinet, desarrolla en colaboración con la URV, centrada en la gestión de cubiertas vegetales en viticultura ecológica en condiciones mediterráneas de estrés hídrico.
