If you’ve been wondering why so many people are looking at Spain right now, a new report from Goldman Sachs may have the answer.

The investment bank forecasts Spain’s economy will grow by 2.1% in 2026. The wider eurozone is expected to grow by just 0.7%.

That’s three times faster.

In fact, Goldman Sachs recently called Spain the “cleanest relative-growth story” in Europe. In other words, Spain isn’t just performing well. It’s outperforming most of its neighbors by a wide margin.

📈 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹?

The answer isn’t just tourism.

According to Goldman Sachs, one of the biggest changes happening in Spain is the growth of higher-value industries such as:

• Technology and communications
• Finance
• Professional services
• Real estate and business services

Since 2019, high-value jobs have increased by more than 20%, roughly double the pace seen in France and Italy.

Spain is not only creating more jobs. It’s creating better-paying and more productive ones.

👷 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀

Spain’s unemployment rate is now at its lowest level since 2008.

Employment is at a record high, and more than 527,000 jobs were added over the past year alone.

Even more surprising, productivity growth is currently outpacing Germany, France, and Italy.

🌍 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲

The IMF estimates that immigration accounted for roughly three-quarters of Spain’s employment growth between 2022 and 2025.

Spain continues to attract skilled workers, entrepreneurs, retirees, digital nomads, and families from around the world.

That growth comes with challenges, particularly housing shortages, but it is also helping fuel the country’s economic expansion.

Goldman Sachs expects Spain to be the only one of the EU’s four largest economies to reduce its debt-to-GDP ratio over the next three years.

At a time when many European governments are struggling with deficits and rising costs, that stands out.

Spain still faces some significant challenges:

• Housing affordability remains a major issue.
• Population aging will create long-term pressure.
• Tourism still represents 12.6% of GDP.
• Political divisions continue to create uncertainty.

No economy is risk-free.

But right now, the data suggests Spain is in a stronger position than many expected just a few years ago.

The European Commission has adopted its proposals for the signature and provisional application, as well as for the conclusion of an agreement in respect of between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The EU-UK deal in respect of Gibraltar will complete the legal framework of the relations between the EU and the United Kingdom established by the Trade and Cooperation Agreement. Gibraltar is not included in the scope of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement, signed in 2020 and in force since 2021.

🤝 The main objective of the EU-UK agreement in respect of Gibraltar is to secure the future prosperity of the whole region. This objective will be reached by removing all physical barriers on persons and goods circulating between Spain and Gibraltar, while fully safeguarding Schengen, the EU's Single Market, and its Customs Union.
