The fall of a shower of meteorites numbering several hundred fragments at WILUNA, Western Australia, on the night of 2 September 1967, has been investigated. Although the dispersion ellipse had been largely obscured by removal of fragments before a party of scientists were able to make a field investigation, it has, nevertheless, been possible to make a reasonable estimate of the shower distribution pattern. In spite of this removal of fragments, a number of pieces of meteorite were still found in situ. The bulk of the total recovery is in the collections of the Western Australian Museum, and the physical characteristics of these masses and their petrography is described. In all, some 490 individual fusion-crust coated stones and a large number of broken stony fragments are known to have been recovered. The meteorite is an olivine bronzite chondrite remarkably rich in discrete nodules of nickel iron, up to an inch across, commonly aggregated with troilite. A full chemical analysis of this fresh meteoritic material has been supplied by the British Museum (Natural History).

A half stone, crusted, weighing 26.78 grams, with official export permision is hosted in the collection of the Adara Institute.

This is, by far, one of the most beautiful and interesting suspected polymict diogenites arrived to our laboratory to be classified.

Remember, now is the best time to submit meteorites for analysis and official classification in the Meteoritical Bulletin. Just contact Adara Institute.

Last night, the first observation session from ARMO-GC01 (Adara Radio Meteor Observatory - Gran Canaria 1 Station) began, resulting in 119 meteors observed in the upper atmosphere. Some echoes were significant. The Adara Institute's first radio meteor observation station is already bearing fruit. The first report is now available on the ARMO website.

Maybe one of the most rare known iron meteorites is ELEMAY 001, one of the only 4 known III-AB-ANOMALOUS type. Discovered and classified 54 years after the last one, Zerhamra. This is one of the most interesting piece we can get in a museum.
It is a Coarse octahedrite with Widmanstätten patterns with bandwidth 1300±230 µm (n=5). Some bands are recrystallized with kamacite grain size 800 µm, others with kamacite grain size 200 µm. Contains dark and comb plessite. Multiple sets of Neumann bands are visible. Rhabdites with grain size 4 µm are visible.
Anomalous designation was based on the Co content of 6.21 µg/g (IIIAB have Co < 5.8 µg/g), and the Og texture (most IIAB are Om)

A lot of pictures were received by messenger, but it is not possible to attend all requests. So, Adara Institute has a service for submitting suspected meteorites pictures prior to sending physical samples to the laboratory. Unfocused, dark, or bad pictures will be not attended. And please, read conditions before submitting because pictures examination do not certify.
