How is it almost that time of year again? Sunday 29th October at 1am (remember that’s overnight on Sat) is clock change time again. Does anyone even remember the days when that would actually mean an extra hour in bed?! 😴😂

There are a few options to move your little one’s routine to help them adjust to the clock change, age depending and also whether you think they can handle sudden change or need a much slower adjustment. Some parents will feel more relaxed about it and for others it will instil a sense of panic…

💤Number 1 option: is NADA-that’s right do nothing. This is the option I have always personally chose with my own children. I do believe sometimes simplicity is key and we tend to work ourselves up as parents and over complicate things. Try to look at it as being on holiday in a different time zone…would you prepare days ahead for a time difference of only 1 hour? Sometimes just rolling with it is the easier option. So keep everything the same with regards to routine and on the day of the clock change continue as normal. See what time they wake on Sunday and take it from there…adjust naps that day and know whatever happens ,they will adjust in a few days.

💤Option 2: Move your routine out by 30mins over 2 days, so your little one goes to bed 30mins later than they usually would the night before clock change and again 30mins later on the day of clock change -remembering to move naps and mealtimes too.

💤Option 3: If your little one is super sensitive to change and you do not think they will cope well with either of the above then you can go much slower and move everything out by 15mins starting 4 days before clock change (day 4 being the day of the clock change) you would then resume normal routine on day 4 and everything should be back at the usual pre clock change time. Again moving mealtimes/naps also.

We are back!!

It’s been a while but we are open and ready to welcome your little ones back once again to Little Amigos playroom!

I run a childminding service from a purpose built playroom within my home…working safely within British childminding adult:child ratios. I am a UK trained Paediatric nurse and I have 22 years experience of working with babies & young children within a Childcare & hospital environment.

I am also a mum of young children so understand the need for sometimes just a few hours to yourself for the gym, a walk, a much needed siesta, lunch out with friends etc. I am able to create a safe & stimulating environment for your little ones so you are able to have a few much needed hours to yourself whilst your precious little ones enjoy themselves too!

*NVQ level 2 & 3 in child care & education
*NVQ level 4 early childhood studies
*BSc (hons)degree in paediatric nursing
*DBS check
