If you’re looking for a slick, cheesy Halloween horror full of classic and not-so-classic tropes, give this fun slasher/revenge/acceptable torture horror a try. Grab some beer, popcorn, and friends so you have someone to groan and high-five with – yes, that type of movie.
It’s strange because, in the beginning, I thought this would be a terribly amateur indie movie, but nope, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the acting was great. I mean, no Oscar-winning performances, but the characters were shallow as they were supposed to be, so the deaths were deliciously ‘justified’. The characters were all really funny too, in a cringey, thank-goodness-I’m-not-like-them kind of way.
It took the popularity theme to another level with social media rather than high school as the backdrop, and had an interesting storyline, even if we have seen it a million times. I felt like by the end, it was all a trap to throw me off the scent of the final payoff.
The gore was plenty, with ridiculous deaths reminiscent of (if Wish made movies) Saw/Hostel. I’m just kidding actually, the special effects were pretty great, even if some of the edits were…unnecessary. Lots of idiotic fun, nevertheless.
The movie paid homage to one of the horror greats, Se7en, with obvious references throughout, and came to a predictable, yet not disappointing ending. Again – a trap!
Honestly, if you go in there with your eyes open that this is a fun ride from start to finish, you won’t be disappointed.
But wait…there’s more. I don’t want to spoil it, but sitting through the credits RIGHT until the end has a great payoff – and I wasn’t ready for it – Fkn bravo 👏👏👏
