Is laughter a part of your work culture?

Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells. It triggers the release of endorphins, which are the body's natural feel-good chemicals.🧪

We seek laughter in our workshops through games and exercises as we find it helps to break down barriers, boosts connection amongst strangers, and encourages a playful beginners mindset.

We hope you've laughed today!

Friday feedback 💬👍🏻

Thank you Athina for this lovely testimonial about your experience of a one on one coaching programme with us at !

Athina's focus was on presentation skills, particularly in the area of body language and confidence. We also worked on job interview communication with her. Over the 5 session intensive programme we saw her make noticeable improvements and develop self awareness.🤩

Athina's training was unique in that a lot of the sessions happened outdoors in the park - a safe space in which to practice with audiences unfamiliar to her.

Thanks for trusting your professional development in us

Are you?

With many of us fighting fatigue, struggling to focus on our screens, and missing face to face interaction it is more important than ever to schedule regular breaks and break your work into manageable chunks. Look away from the screen, stretch, listen to some music, then return to work again.🎶

Lack of focus can come across as disinterest in communication and important information can be lost when we are distracted in our on screen interactions. Self awareness of our focus and active listening ability is key!

What do you find helps you to focus? Do you find it easier or harder when working from home? Let us know in the comments!👇

Insights are a hugely important part of Design Thinking. Often what we think is an insight is actually just an observation, which is why it is so important to dig deep into problems and investigate them with an open curious mind before analysis begins. 🔎

Feedback Friday!

Thanks so much to Bruno for trusting in us to lead his communication skills training over the past few months. Bruno is the Head of Public Affairs for Southern Europe at Danfoss. A company who clearly cares about their people and invests in helping them to learn new skills and develop as professionals.👏🏻

Communication is a huge part of his job as he is responsible for communicating with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis on very important matters such as energy efficiency. 💡

Our deep dive training programme with Bruno was delivered at his own workplace and included face to face sessions as well as one online one to translate the skills to a digital environment too. In a one to one format we were able to personalise the sessions to his needs, and work on scenarios relevant to his particular role.

He made incredible progress and thanks to his dedication and continuous learning in between the sessions we saw marked improvement in areas including storytelling and voice projection.🎤

Well done Bruno and thank you for the kind words!

A good resource for anyone interested in how Human Centred Design can impact the social sector.📚

One of IDEO] 's missions is to spread human centred design to social sector practitioners around the world.🌍

This book, the 'Field Guide to Human-Centered Design' highlights their process and the key mindsets for design in the social sector. It contains methods for both new and experienced practitioners as well as case studies from the field which are really enjoyable for a practical angle.

In their words at IDEO] "The Field Guide has everything you need to understand the people you're designing for, to have more effective brainstorms, to prototype your ideas, and to ultimately arrive at more creative solutions."

As many of our clients work in the social sector we really enjoyed this read, particularly because of its practical examples.

Contemporary Empathy burst into life in the beginning of 2020, right on the brink of a global crisis that would propel the need for communication, collaboration, and empathy to the forefront of public and private sectors.

Exploratory conversations around the role of empathy in innovation and strategy were beginning to take place, but who was actually applying it, or delivering professional training to develop these essential skills?

Founder Ellen Buckland launched Contemporary Empathy to empower others with creative communication skills that will shape more effective and empathetic leaders and businesses.

Still working remotely? Hunched over a desk? 🖥

Make movement a part of your working day! Physical activity has been directly linked to creativity in recent scientific studies. They found that people who moved more in their daily lives produced more ideas 💡 in brainstorming sessions than those who did not.

We recommend making movement a priority with your teams. Integrate a warm up or daily stretch in your calls, encourage breaks to walk around, try standing desks, and do some energiser activities before any ideation sessions. ⚡️
