2009. Look at that Bike Machinery (Italy) jig. It was meant to do a totally different thing than I had in mind when I got it, but I made it work all the same.
Who was going to say I'd still be making bikes today? The amazing thing — or what I would have never suspected — is that always trying to make better bikes was going to be my playground to learn and understand how to make other things, and that the principles I was learning were the perfect thing to be able to extrapolate to other fields (it changed my field of expertise from molecular dynamics to product engineering).
Anyways, found the photo and thought it would be a nice excuse to say, "Hi, we're here, still making amazing bikes and other things." If we haven't been showing up lately as we did before, it's for three reasons: I'm tired of this game of producing content for this platform (time is way better spent doing other stuff), because of how it works and how it distorts reality, and because of the discomfort it produces to "work" for the people who own it.
It would be nice if, instead of making a comment here, you took a couple of minutes and sent us an email (I was going to say a letter…) and took your thoughts out of this place.
Have a nice weekend and ride your bike!, Andrés.
