The selection of a VP rarely helps but it can certainly sometime hurt, demonstrating for all the terrible judgement of a Presidential candidate. The selection of Walz is way much better and qualified than Vance who is universally decried as atrocious the Sarah Palin of Dan Quayles. The question is will
walz help in wining the competitive in Midwestern and Sun Belt states? I would have advised for Harris to pick Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a solidly feminist, courageous and competent Midwestern governor who can help win the Midwest. A Harris-Whitmer ticket would be a powerful symbol of shifting power dynamics Walz could be a better candidate if the security was a major issue

Capital, has left the VC shop after seven years as partner to launch his own seed fund, according to two people with knowledge of the fundraise.

Ahuja is targeting between $30 million and $40 million for his debut fund, dubbed Timeless Ventures, which would make seed and early-stage investments across multiple industries, sources say.

Timeless Ventures will join a growing list of emerging VCs jumping ship from mainstay funds, as many GPs predict that the 2024 vintage will generate exceptional returns for seed investments.

I have spent a good part with my friends who are faced with bereavement about the role of hope or grace of faith in the face of thier grief. Since I became a victim to grief myself lately, freinds have been kind enough and send supportive messages similar to what I say to people in such times. But when, a little more than a month of grief I am still caught unprepared. This poem soothes in a powerful way ;

Here is my five take on the current political race in the Republican primaries and why we would have a female president in November 2024:

1. the odds against a Haley upset are not as remote as they seem. She will finish second to Trump in Iowa and New Hampshire states, and will bring momentum into her home state of South Carolina, which holds the third primary in February.
2. The way donor and media outlets normally in this situation will be to put political pressure on DeSantis and Christie to drop out leaving Trump vs Haley.
3. Trump’s legal schedule will be so crowded he will have little time to stage his big rallies. His money pressures will also be mounting. Haley, who is nothing if not entirely biddable, has scope to offer Trump a deal in which he would pull out of the race in exchange for a pardon. That, in short, is her path to the big prize.
4. Haley’s malleability would make her dangerous to Biden in the general election. This leaves Democrats in the awkward position of both dreading Trump and rooting for him.
5. In conclusion she may well be the next president but also the first female president — she is so smart and will deftly thread the needle between the Maga base and “Never Trump” voters and beat Trump

Finally IMF / WB has realised $250 million from syndicated loans yesterday ( and might later in the coming month issue another $1 billion budgetary support loan) to help Kenya’s address its debt burdens, corruption scandals and weakening local currency: —Foreign external reserves stands at $6.4 billion only enough to cover 3.6 months of imports.

William Samoei Ruto is now seeking a new loan under the Fund's Resilience and Sustainability Trust (RST) (capped at 150% of a country's IMF quota) and hoping that they get this before the $2 billion eurobond mature in June 2024.

I am speculating that Kenya could follow the likes of Zambia and Ghana into default.

Tapping international debt markets is not the issue but a combination of domestic factors like improved governance and stemming corruption.

Deploy digitalisation on monitoring spending particularly the procurement that’s where the waste is. It’s not lack of revenue ( taxes have been increased ) or sticky high interest rates or even lacklustre global growth BUT procurement and tendering loopholes created by few “cartels and shareholders of Kenya kwanza government”that could Bring down the economy to a halt if the loans are bit well spent and lead to soaring refinancing needs into debt difficulties next year.

A persistently gloomy macroeconomic backdrop and near banking crisis drove a decline in M&A activity in Q1 2023, pushing global deal value down 32% from the peak just over a year prior.
But total M&A deal value still topped $1 trillion for the quarter. While certain sellers—think private equity—stepped back in recent months, lower valuation multiples in some cases helped encourage deal flow

The Republican Party are going to earn a defeat-and the smell of that defeat may be an additional draw to the polls for the Democratic-leaning constituencies that will inflict it I am pretty certain of it

Don Lemmon was miscast for a daily morning show. CNN scheduled a right-wing Republican - an Indian origin American who supports the NRA to explain the plight of Black people to a Black ( gay) man about the role of NRA on civil rights. It went South quickly because the man was wrong on every topic. If Lemmon had remained silent Black folks would have shish ke·bab him.
