Yesterday the Spanish Government approved a Decreto Ley regarding a massive "regularización" for immigrants that are currently here in Spain but in an irregular situation and that comply with certain requeriments.

What we know so far is:
- It could be requested from 01/04/26 to 30/06/26
- You would have to prove you have been living in Spain for at least 5 months before 31/12/25.
- You will have to prove you do not have criminal records in your country.
- You will have the right to work from the moment the application has been admitted to be reviewed.
- It is not a residencia permit itself, it is a permit to live and work in Spain for a year while your sort your legal situation (it will not count for citizenship purposes, for example).

What we do NOT know:
- the actual process: how, where...
- the economical means you will have to prove (if any) or how.
- how you will have to prove you have been living in Spain for the period the say.
- the fees attached.
- how do they plan to answer if the application has been admitted to be checked within 15 days if they are already overloaded with work and they are not planning in getting extra staff for the immigration offices...
- how is it going to work exactly, in general terms.

Hopefully we will know more very soon, and we will keep you posted.

Hi all!

I do not tend to vent, but I just had a telephone conversation with a British client that said to me she did not understand my email to her because it was "not proper English".

That remark is wrong in many levels. I have a very high English level, written, speaking, reading.

My emails are written in very clear words. To the point, not flourished sentences, precisely to avoid communication problems.

It is extremely unpolite right down rude that a person living in another country AND that can not speak the language of said country to say something like that to someone that is being nice enough to do all the job in her language to her.

I am sorry, but that is simply wrong.

Dear all, the flu/bad cold has caught up with me, like with so many others.

I am trying to do my best to follow up with all my emails, but I am admittedly working slower than usual. And we have to add to that the days off that I plan to spend quality time with the family...

Please bear with us!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our congratulations today go to Alexander and Antonia in getting their Spanish nationality approved!!! 🥳🍾🎊🎉

If you have child born in Spain, do not wait until they are older to start this process. It is easier and a lot less painful to do it while they are still little.

And if you are non EU, you will be given them the opportunity to work and travel in the whole EU when they grow up.

CHILDREN BORN IN SPAIN NOT YET REGISTERED AS RESIDENTS:

We have received new instructions to clarify the new Immigration Law from 20th May 2025, this time regarding children born in Spain.

It is compulsory to register the children born in Spain WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF THEIR BIRTH.
The previous law did not specified a time line to register the children, but I suppose they have many cases where children are not registered at all (I have quite a few clients that have NOT done so), therefore they have introduced this on the law.

The consequences of not compliance they have not sent to us yet, but I would assume it will be an economical fine.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, register your children as residents. Do not have them on legal limbo, for years in some cases. This matter should be your absolute priority.

This can be found on the article 159.1 second paragraph.

BREXIT RENEWALS LATEST:

Sooo, I have just arrived from the police station.

Back in 2020, the very first applications done under the WA that required the prior approval from the immigration office, were done from 3rd July.
Therefore, this information is for all of you, British citizens, that became residents under the WA from 3rd July onwards:

The police confirms the renewal of your TIE for permanent will be a simple exchange, same process and documents than the ones that have been requested in order to exchange the EU residencia document for TIE.

It HAS to be done from the moment your current TIE is expired, within the next 3 months. It can not be done before as the police system will not recognize you as permanent resident before.

You can do the process at any national police station within your province. I strongly suggest you start looking for appointments way in advance your expiry date, but for a date that is after the TIE expires.
If you do not hold digital signature or Cl@ve will be nearly impossible for you to get an appointment. It is strongly recommended you get this too, if you can.

I hope this info will help you with the process!

BREXIT renewals:

All of UK citizens that became residents under the WA in 2020 will have to renew their TIEs this year. It can be done from the day after expiry date, and it seems it will be a simple exchange (we will know more from next week when we have our first appointments).

You can do it UP TO 3 months after expiry date.
If you have not yet requested to be added to a list of appointments to be booked with a professional, I strongly suggest you start checking appointments already, as they are flying.
