Today sees the start of the 37th Artisan fair in Mancha Blanca! Here's all you need to know...
Dates: September 10–15, 2026
Location: Mancha Blanca, Tinajo
Opening Hours: Thursday, September 10 from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM;
Friday, September 11 to Tuesday, September 15 from 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM.
Participants: Over 140 artisans and participants.
Guest Country: Uruguay.
Highlights: Traditional crafts, live demonstrations, workshops, folk music, traditional games, and local food and drinks.

If you don't want to drive, here's how to get there...
Intercity bus Line 16 (Arrecife - Tinajo) and Line 53 (Teguise - Tinajo) run through the region regularly. There will also be a special service on 12th Sept for the pilgrimage - check bus sites and social media for details.

There is also entertainment over the dates but the highlight for many will be the major headline concert by international artist Juanes on Saturday night.

As the new school year starts Fundación Canaria Flora Acoge are collecting items to make sure all kids have an equal start to the year.
If you’d like to get involved you can donate school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pens, colors, pencil cases, and other necessary resources.

If you’d want to donate and don’t feel your Spanish is up to the call let me do it for you.

September is the sweet spot. Offices are back to normal, it's not yet the busy run-up to the end of year, and you've got time to get things done properly without rushing.

September's here tomorrow and the island is getting properly back in gear.

Offices are open at normal hours again, appointments are easier to get and the summer backlog starts to clear. Schools will be starting back next week. If you've been putting something off since July, this is the month to get it moving.

It's also one of the most beautiful months to be in Lanzarote. The heat drops a little, the summer crowds thin out and there's a genuinely good calendar of local events to get involved with.

A few dates to know: 8th September is the Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios in Yaiza. A local fiesta day in that municipality, so banks and offices in Yaiza will be closed. 15th September is a public holiday across Lanzarote and La Graciosa — the Festividad de Nuestra Señora de Los Volcanes. This year's programme includes the ###V Festival Nanino Díaz Cutillas de folklore and the 37th Feria Insular de Artesanía at Mancha Blanca.

Pilgrim groups leave from the Casa-Museo del Campesino in San Bartolomé early in the morning and make their way on foot to the Ermita at Mancha Blanca. If you've never joined a group of pilgrims on the walk, it's a genuinely wonderful way to experience the island.
