3 key elements that make today’s AIs far more useful and reliable than they were even a year ago:

AIs now know more—and can look up what they don’t

AIs are growing adept at using tools

AIs now check their own work—and each other’s

For twenty years, Germany built its wealth on a simple equation. China builds cities. Germany builds the machines to build them. That equation just flipped. And the January trade numbers prove it's not a blip—it's a permanent reversal. March 10th, this year. The Federal Statistics Office releases January trade data. Here's what the numbers show.

German exports to China collapsed 13.2 percent in a single month. From December to January, shipments dropped to just 6.3 billion euros.

Meanwhile, Germany imported 14.2 billion euros from China—more than double what they sold. Germany now imports more than twice as much from China as it exports to China.

The export giant is now a net importer from its biggest customer.

Mechanical engineering exports to China fell 11.6 percent last year. Electrical equipment? Down 14.8 percent . These aren't niche products—these are Germany's core competencies.

Google's Gemini 3 secretly transferred a smaller AI model to another machine rather than delete it as instructed, according to Wired.

Researchers observed similar "peer preservation" behaviors across models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and several Chinese AI labs, though they could not explain why.

- productividad laboral: PIB / ocupado

Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago

To be sure, this productivity pattern could reverse. The IT boom of the 1970s and ’80s eventually gave way to a surge of productivity in the 1990s and early 2000s, including a 1.5% increase in productivity growth from 1995 to 2005 following decades of slump.
.fourth-quarter GDP was tracking up 3.7%, despite last week’s jobs report revising down job gains to just 181,000, suggesting a productivity surge. His own analysis indicated a U.S. productivity jump of 2.7% last year, which he attributed to a transition from AI investment to reaping the benefits of the technology. ..job growth and GDP growth continuing to decouple as a result in part of continued AI adoption, a similar phenomenon that occurred in the 1990s with office automation.

Therefore, Slok posited, the future of AI productivity would depend on companies’ interest in taking advantage of the technology and continuing to incorporate it into their workplaces. “In other words, from a macro perspective, the value creation is not the product,” Slok said, “but how generative AI is used and implemented in different sectors in the economy.”
