There is certain fish that really make you stop and appreciate the absolute beauty of them. Ramunas Angler has been out recently and putting in the hours chasing a specimen Bass. After losing a monster Bass right at the edge be doubled down and got back fishing and what a reward he got. This 75cm Bass tested his Yuki Neox Makan to the limit but man and rod proved up to the test. After a huge fight the beast was tamed, measured, photographed and released in double quick time.

Congratulations to Ramunas on his Irish Specimen Bass. Estimates on weight? You big fish guys what do you think?

Not bad for a couple of months species hunting by JP Molloy Fishing and still an awful lot more fishing to be done. I wonder are the species of Sardinia at the World championships eligible 🤣

I haven’t been out species hunting for a couple of months due to an operation recovery and the shore competition scene getting busy . I see they have over 330 signed up for it so far which is great . It’s definitely a unique species hunt where they cover all species in Ireland both freshwater and salt. The lads are doing a great job running in . I look forward to getting back at it and see if I can add a couple of more species to the mix .

Despite the recent spell of rain the sun in Ireland has been incredible. With all this heat the summer species have arrived in numbers and are brilliant fun on the light gear!

Our ProStaff angler Chris O'Sullivan Fishing has been out preparing for the World Championships using his Yuki Class Beach Ledgering 4.7mm with the sensitive tip. Accompanied by the Yuki Tyan beach 6000 reel and CAST tapered line (.16mm - .57mm) Chris has had a number of great evenings chasing Garfish on popped up rigs.

Advice from Chris is
'try balance your snood line, pop up bead and hook size to ensure that your baits fish high up enough in the water for the Garfish to see the baits'

'A good quality flurocarbon hook length will also help you land a big Bass or Mullet should they take a fancy to your popped up bait'.

That last cast fish is often the one that keeps us coming back!
David Joseph Coleman from Swords Angling Centre was fishing the Kerry Pairs recently and although the match didn't shape up the way he wanted David and partner Tomas never gave up. On the last cast David landed this spectacular Thin Lipped Mullet estimated at between 5 and 6lbs weight.David was fishing popped up maddies at distance on a 3 hook flapper rig using his Yuki Class X in order to present the delicate baits just short of the reef.

Well done David a super fish.

Yuki man Fiachra Figgs Cronin has been enjoying the sun in Ireland recently coming 2nd in Tralee Bay S.A.C. June competition before thrashing the field in their July competition. The Shannon Estuary isn't for the faint of heart and Figgs put his Saikou Casting to the test landing Thornback rays, Wrasse and Conger eels mostly using Mackerel, Squid, Rag and Sandeel for bait.

Great fishing but summer isn't made for trudging around muddy the Estuary 🤣 so Figgs and father in law Jason set out to target the elusive Mullet. Now everyone knows these fish can be skittish at best so the lads made a dawn raid on Tralee bay using .49mm Yuki invisible main body and Yuki Seabass flurocarbon hook lengths in .20mm and .26mm when the Bass took over. Jason and Figgs landed well in excess of 40 fish in the session using the trusty Saikou A6 sensitive and the new Next Gen TT 4.2m before moving to the Neox DSC Masaraty when the fish moved out at distance. Some great fun in the sun well done Figgs and Jason.

Fiachra Cronin fished the Tag A Ray competition in Tralee last weekend – and delivered a strong performance! 🎣
Day one: joint second place. Overall: fourth place across the two-day event.
He landed undulate rays up to 81cm and painted rays using the Saikou Casting rod, plus a bass on the Neox DSC Maseraty.

A fantastic result – well done, Fiachra!

Patrick Fagan attended the "Tag A Ray" competition in Tralee last weekend for the first time – and really enjoyed it.

The event invites shore anglers to catch, tag, and release rays, helping researchers track their movements and protect local populations.

Patrick didn't land a huge number of fish, but he did get into a few dogfish and one nice 74 cm thornback ray that took a liking to his bait setup.

A solid first outing on the shore!
