Fiachra Cronin fished the Tag A Ray competition in Tralee last weekend – and delivered a strong performance! 🎣
Day one: joint second place. Overall: fourth place across the two-day event.
He landed undulate rays up to 81cm and painted rays using the Saikou Casting rod, plus a bass on the Neox DSC Maseraty.

Patrick Fagan attended the "Tag A Ray" competition in Tralee last weekend for the first time – and really enjoyed it.

The event invites shore anglers to catch, tag, and release rays, helping researchers track their movements and protect local populations.

Patrick didn't land a huge number of fish, but he did get into a few dogfish and one nice 74 cm thornback ray that took a liking to his bait setup.

A solid first outing on the shore!

Congratulations to all the anglers that took part in this unique event over the last weekend. Su***de prevention is an incredibly serious thing and if we talked about our feelings as much as we do about fishing then the world would be a better place.

Congratulations to our new Prostaff JP Molloy on a fine win racking up 22 species in 24 hours in fairly miserable sea conditions at times. His versatility over coarse and sea and determination to fish around 18hrs saw him win this new event. From Sticklebacks to Smoothounds there was quite a mix

What an unbelievable turnout for the first 24 Hour Species Hunt in aid of Pieta House 💙

Despite fresh NE winds hammering the east coast and making sea fishing conditions extremely difficult, anglers still managed to put together an incredible variety of species over the 24 hours. Plenty of people spent more time battling wind and surf than actually fishing.

A combined total of 36 different species were recorded during the event 👏

A fine Dab by Chris O'Sullivan during the recent Tralee Bay Sea Angling Club competition on Ventry beach. Though the fishing overall was not as good as usual Chris bagged the win and this new personal best Dab using the prototype for our new Saikou Barbarian Cast.

Some super fishing by Chris O'Sullivan Fishing down in the South West of Ireland. Using Yuki Kenta .165mm and .198mm plus the Safu tapered leader (.23mm-.57mm) he was able to reach the rays over the back of the surf. They were no trouble to land on the Neox Kenta 4.5m and Class X 4.5m even with a strong lateral tide run!
