You’ve got enthusiastic… and then you’ve got Ariella Real!

And she has every reason to be. The very first edition of her lifestyle magazine Eat, Drink & More is not only visually stunning, but also a glamorous and refreshing addition to the local magazine scene in the Axarquía. And the second edition is on its way as we speak!

With her background as a dance teacher – “I’ve spent 45 years dancing through life on heels” – she brings a vibrant choreography of engaging articles and interviews (in English), alongside adverts in whichever language best speaks to your audience. Nothing in the magazine is random; every piece is carefully curated. Ariella has a clear mission with Eat, Drink & More: to connect people, just as she once did through dance.

Eat, Drink & More covers the entire Axarquía: from La Cala del Moral to Maro, and from Colmenar to Canillas de Aceituno. Besides the printed edition – perfectly sized for your beach bag – you can also find the magazine online (https://eat-drink-more.com) and on social media.

If you’re a business owner – big or small – or an organisation looking to share your unique story and connect with a wider audience, get in touch with Ariella. She will happily guide you through all the possibilities.

Of course, you can also catch her in person at a meeting from Axarquia Business Networking Group - in English. On 23 June we gather at 07:30 at our usual spot, Lux Mundi Centro Ecumenico.

Even in July, we won’t be slowed down by the heat: meetings take place on the 7th and 21st at 07:30, and on the 14th at 18:00.

In August we take a short break, returning in full force in September. And there’s even better news: we’re expanding to TWO morning meetings and TWO evening meetings per month. So keep an eye on this page for all updates!

Ariella is the publisher of Eat, Drink & More Axarquía, a high quality, glossy Lifestyle Magazing that is salon table worthy & purse friendly. It features interesting articles about the Axarquia region and Spain, as well as local initiatives and businesses that are worth knowing for expats and tourists.

EDM sponsors special projects and gives business owners the opportunity to advertise goods and services locally. You can find the magazine free to pick up throughout Axarquía, at tourist information points, selected B&Bs, golf courses and stores, and of course at Lux Mundi.

By now, most of you know that our meetings take place at Lux Mundi Centro Ecumenico in Torre del Mar. And you may also remember that we hosted the second edition of Copas y Canapés in their beautiful garden. That’s no coincidence. If there’s one thing you’ll always find at Lux Mundi, it’s a warm welcome.

At our meeting this past Tuesday, Gloria and Julia shared the inspiring story behind Lux Mundi. The original vision of Father Ramón Delius was beautifully simple: to create a stable place where people could find warmth, friendship and support. A place where everyone is welcome to share who they are and what they have, regardless of origin, race, colour or faith.

The first Lux Mundi centre opened its doors in Fuengirola in 1973, followed by ‘our’ own centre in Torre del Mar in 1994. Today, Lux Mundi offers so much more than many people realise. From excursions, coffee mornings, an art group and a well-stocked charity shop, to practical and emotional support for those who need it most. Whether through their food bank initiatives or simply by offering a listening ear, they continue to make a real difference in our community.

Their door is always open. But like many charitable organisations, they rely on the support of others to continue their valuable work.

If you would like to make a financial contribution, volunteer your time or help organise fundraising events, they would love to hear from you. And if you’d like to experience the unique warmth and hospitality of Lux Mundi for yourself, why not join us at one of the meetings from Axarquia Business Networking Group - in English?

Last Tuesday, even before the 'official' start of the meeting, there was already plenty of lively conversation going on. It almost feels like we’re all a little more awake and energised now that the mornings are getting lighter. 😉

We were supposed to do a quick 'round the table', but everyone had so much to share that the round table basically became the meeting.

These were the members from Axarquia Business Networking Group - in English who filled the room with ideas, energy and connection.

▪️Julia: the beating heart of the Food Drive Torre Del Mar, currently supporting 37 families (including 66 children) with food parcels. Every month, around €1300 is needed. All support and sharing of this initiative is more than welcome.
▪️Virginia: representing ASSSA Insurance, essential for expats applying for residency in Spain, and so much more.
▪️Ariella Real: publisher of the international lifestyle magazine Eat, Drink & More, based in the Axarquía. Always looking for advertisers and inspiring content, always with a smile.
▪️Bernie (Bernhild Strathoff-Thomas): passionate about helping people feel better in their skin, something Ringana supports beautifully. Be sure to book a fresh date with her.
▪️Juan (My Lawyer in Spain): from real estate to inheritance and wills, Juan and his team are there with expertise, skill and clear guidance.
▪️Sam (Sunbeam Dog Training & Behaviour): has become a trusted name for anyone with a (especially reactive) dog who needs a bit of extra support.
▪️Suzanne (Ceremonies by Suzanne): whether it’s a joyful celebration or a heartfelt farewell, Suzanne creates bespoke ceremonies that reflect your values, beliefs and emotions.

It was such a pleasure to welcome some new faces last Tuesday at the evening meeting of Axarquia Business Networking Group - in English and they couldn’t have picked a better moment to join.

On the agenda was the presentation 'Dead Interesting – The truth about funerals in Spain', and not a word of it was an exaggeration. We were completely captivated by Paul from Serenity Funeral Services, who delivered a highly insightful overview of what actually happens in Spain when someone passes away. Something that, sooner or later, affects us all.

That’s exactly why it is so important to talk about death and about your own wishes for your funeral, according to Paul and his colleague Michael. Integrity, compassion, clarity, dignity and proper care are the core values of Serenity, and after this talk, we are fully convinced of their importance.
