Ethiopian Dr. Feteh Weldesenbet Re-elected CAHB Zone 5 President
Cairo, Egypt — Ethiopian sports leader Feteh Weldesenbet (PhD) has been re-elected President of African Handball Confederation (CAHB) Zone 5 (East Africa) following a unanimous vote by all member nations.
The decision was made during the CAHB Zone 5 Electoral Congress held on December 19, 2025 E.C., at the St. Regis Hotel in Cairo.
Zone 5 comprises 11 East African countries: Ethiopia, Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Burundi.
Delegates reviewed achievements and ongoing initiatives across the zone before endorsing Dr. Feteh Weldesenbet for another term. In remarks at the congress,
CAHB President Dr. Arémou Mansourou underscored the importance of African unity, collective development of handball, and presenting a strong, unified African voice on the global stage.
In his closing statement, Dr. Feteh Weldesenbet said serving the interests of Africa and representing the continent with unity internationally is both an honor and a responsibility.
The congress also noted that upcoming electoral meetings for the African Handball Confederation and the International Handball Federation (IHF) will take place in the coming days.
