On February 21, 2026, Jimma Universityโs Addis Ababa Campus hosted its first-ever Corporate Partnership and Postgraduate Engagement Initiative.
This milestone initiative serves as a strategic bridge which connects the university with professionals and corporate organizations to encourages capacity building and provide clear pathways to advanced education.
Dr. Mengistu Tafesse - COO, ABH Partners, officially opened the session by welcoming a diverse group of industry leaders, associations and professionals.
โข Dr. Tadesse Habtamu - VP of Academic Affairs, delivered the keynote speech, highlighted the universityโs dedication to establishing high-impact partnerships. With 410 programs currently available mostly primarily postgraduate, He affirmed the universityโs commitment to scaling its expertise to meet the capitalโs professional demands. ๐ค.
โข Mr. Buruk Woldemichael - Senior Director of Registrar, detailed the universityโs program diversity, its extensive collaborations with global academic institutions and JUโs proven track record. According to him, since its establishment in 1952 G.C., the university has produced over 138,000 graduates ๐, playing its role as a cornerstone of Ethiopian higher education for over seven decades.
โข Dr. Mekonnen Bogale โ Dean of College of Business and Economics (BECO) and Dr. Dessalegn Tamiru - Dean of Faculty of Public Health shared the growth of their respective faculties, including BECOโs enrollment of 20,000+ students since its year of establishment 1997 G.C.
The presentations sparked active reflections and a dynamic Q&A session, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
Dr. Samrawit Solomon, Director of the Addis Ababa Campus, reminded attendees that Jimma Universityโs presence in the capital is a renewed commitment to a long-standing history. She noted that prior to the current phase, the campus had already graduated a significant number of students. Now fully resumed and operational, the campus is currently accepting applications for its second postgraduate intake. Dr. Samrawit concluded the event with key updates on the campusโs expansion and led a guided tour of the physical facilities.
To ensure sustained impact, these engagement sessions will now be held bi-annually at the beginning and midpoint of each academic year.
