Dubai’s “Strategic Plan 2021”:
Over the next decade, Dubai will look more and more like it came from a sci-fi movie.
The city has laid out 2021 goals that include:
- 3D-printing 25 percent of the city’s buildings
- Making 25 percent of transportation trips automated and driverless
- Installing hundreds of artificial “trees” that use solar power to provide the city with free wifi, screens with mapping information, and ports for charging phones
- Integrating passenger drones that can carry individuals into their public transportation system
- Becoming one of the top 10 sustainable cities by 2020.
Dubai is setting a prime example for the rest of the world to follow.

Sustainable approach, Smart energy metering, Jordan is a growing market for Renewable Power!

“Our target by 2020 is to generate about 20 percent of our electricity from renewables,” Ibrahim Saif, Jordan’s energy minister, said in the interview. Of the 1,600 megawatts planned, 1,300 is already contracted in two stages, Sabra said. The remaining 300 megawatts will be the third round, he said.
AMMAN — While Jordan has achieved “substantial” progress in attracting investments in the renewable energy sector, allowing third party supply of electricity would further boost the sector, a recent report said.
Jordan ranked second in the 2016 Arab Future Energy Index (AFEX) Renewable Energy, scoring 66 out of 100 points, while Morocco topped the list, scoring 71 per cent...............................

Dubai International Financial Centre chief sees 'immense opportunity' in financial technology sector

Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on Tuesday announced the launch of a $100 million FinTech-focused fund to accelerate the development of financial technology.

The fund was announced during the inaugural Global Financial Forum, GFF, organised by DIFC, which was attended by over 350 influencers from the financial services industry.

Essa Kazim, Governor of DIFC, said: "The fund will leverage the DIFC’s FinTech ecosystem consisting of attractive experimental licenses, market leading pricing and collaborative spaces. There is immense opportunity in this market, and this will be one more step towards shaping the future of finance in the region.

"There is huge potential in the region we serve and through the DIFC, we look to support the development of emerging markets in MEASA and encourage greater trade flows through the South-South corridor, which stretches from Latin America, through to Africa, India, South East-Asia and China," he added.

The launch comes after Dubai was ranked 10th in The Banker magazine’s annual international financial centre (IFC) rankings, placing it alongside hubs such as London, New York, Hong Kong and Singapore.

In the first six months of 2017, DIFC grew by 6.2 percent to 1,750 incorporated companies. This followed 14 percent growth over the course of 2016.
