Today 17.5. is , the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia!🌈

It's a day to stand together, promote equality and fight against discrimination. Let's celebrate diversity, spread solidarity and create a world that's safe and inclusive for all. 🌍💜

Here's how you can make a difference and support the fight for equality:

1️⃣ Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn about the experiences and challenges faced by the LGBTIQ+ community. Read books, watch documentaries, and listen to personal stories. Knowledge is power! 📚✨

2️⃣ Speak Up: Use your voice to raise awareness and advocate for LGBTIQ+ rights. Share educational content, personal stories, and news on social media. Don't be silent when you witness discrimination—stand up discrimination and hate wherever you encounter them. 🗣️💪

3️⃣ Be an Ally: Support LGBTIQ+ individuals in your life and create a safe space for them. Listen to their experiences, validate their identities, and offer your support. Solidarity, empathy and appreciation can go a long way in making someone feel valued and loved. 🤗❤️

4️⃣ Engage in Dialogue: Engage in open and respectful conversations about LGBTIQ+ issues. Challenge stereotypes, question prejudice, and help others understand the importance of equality. By fostering understanding, we can break down barriers and promote equality. 🗨️🤝

5️⃣ Support LGBTIQ+ Communities: Donate your time, resources, or funds to communities that work tirelessly to protect and uplift the LGBTIQ+ community. From local support groups to global initiatives, your support can make a significant impact. 💙🌈

Remember, the fight for equality is ongoing. Let's celebrate diversity, challenge discrimination, and create a world where everyone can live and love without fear or prejudice.
Together, we can make a difference! 🌍✨

🟰

"The first condition for a woman's progress
is personal and spiritual freedom. It is the foundation of everything else," said Minna Canth in one of her many famous and wise quotes - which is also a reminder to us all on this Minna Canth and Equality Day ❤️‍🔥

Minna Canth was an important pioneer of equality and a social movement leader in 19th century Finland. She is known not only as the first Finnish-language women's journalist, but also as a writer whose texts realistically depicted the central grievances of the time. Advocating for women and defending the underprivileged were matters close to her heart.

Minna Canthi has been called Finland's first feminist, or at least one of them.
And certainly a role model for many of us 💫

Naisten oikeudet ovat ihmisoikeuksia 🟰

Tiesitkö, että

✊🏻Maailmassa kuolee lähes 47 000 naista vaarallisen abortin seurauksena vuosittain.

✊🏽Yli 40 prosenttia suomalaisista naisista on joutunut miehen tekemän fyysisen tai seksuaalisen väkivallan tai uhkailun kohteeksi 15 vuotta täytettyään.

✊🏻Yli 50 prosentilla kaupungeissa asuvista naisista ja tytöistä puuttuu vähintään yksi seuraavista: puhdas vesi, tarpeelliset käymälä- ja peseytymistilat, kunnollinen asunto ja riittävä elintila.

✊🏽Naisten ansiot ovat Suomessa keskimäärin 16 prosenttia miesten ansioita pienemmät. Maailmanlaajuisesti palkkaero on 22 prosenttia.

✊🏻Naisten osuus kansanedustajista on maailmanlaajuisesti vain noin neljännes.

Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December 🕊️

The same day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The UDHR is a milestone document, which proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, s*x, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status ⚖️

Available in more than 500 languages, it is the most translated document in the world 🌍

This year, the theme of the day is “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All”

Today, a year before the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights will be celebrated on 10 December 2023, United Nations launched a year-long campaign to showcase the UDHR by focusing on its legacy, relevance and activism ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

In the decades since the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, human rights have become more recognised and more guaranteed across the globe.

It has since served as the foundation for an expanding system of human rights protection that today focuses also on vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and migrants.

However, the promise of the UDHR, of dignity and equality in rights, has been under a sustained assault in recent years.

As the world faces challenges new and ongoing – pandemics, conflicts, exploding inequalities, morally bankrupt global financial system, racism, climate change – the values, and rights enshrined in the UDHR provide guideposts for our collective actions that do not leave anyone behind.

The year-long campaign seeks to shift the needle of understanding and action towards greater knowledge of the universality of the UDHR and the activism associated with it ❤️‍🔥

Today 1.12. is the World Aids Day ❤️

The red ribbon is the universal symbol of awareness and support for people living with HIV.

This year the World Aids Day is asking us to wear the Red Ribbon and tell why we with our communities and to be an HIV ally.

Being an ally is a possibility and commitment to learn and be part of the change for better.

So today is another great day to educate yourself about HIV&AIDS and be a better ally.

HIV/AIDS have special history within the lgbtiq+ community that touches as all - q***r people, family and friends, allies, public services and policy makers.
There is a lot we all can learn from the history.
We can all make a difference.

Beside reading articles, books and blogs about the history and current situation of HIV/ADIS, watch some documentaries, tv-series and movies too.
Some of our favourites are currently streaming on several platforms;
Angels in America, 2003
Don't Ever Wipe Tears Without Gloves, 2013
It's a Sin, 2021

Today 20.11. is the international Transgender Day of Remembrance 🕯

Today we memorialise those individuals who have been murdered as a result of transphobia.

The day also aims to draw attention to the violence that is carried out towards many in the transgender community.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was established in 1999 when transgender advocate Gwendolyn Anne Smith arranged a vigil as a memorial to transgender woman Rita Hester killed in 1998.
Initially a small local event it has grown to be an internationally recognised annual event, with events held in 185 cities across 20 countries.

Now supported and promoted by GLAAD , the awareness campaign receives much media coverage and support from human rights advocates.

With candlelit vigils held where the names of those who have lost their lives are read out, and marches taking place in communities across the world along with many other events, there is plenty to get involved with.

This is an opportunity to remember those we have lost, come together to overcome divisions in our communities, and grieve and heal with other people.

For allies, this is a another day and a chance to show solidarity, seek information and learn to educate ourself and others.

Equality 🟰 Mental Health 💚

Mental health is an equality issue.

Discriminative and noninclusive behaviour, culture and structures exist at all levels of society and increase the risk of mental health issues for all and especially minorities.

However, tackling these by getting informed and actively dismantling oppressive, stigmatising and other repressing beliefs and behaviour will improve and support the mental health of not only minorities but everyone.

💚

The International Mental Health Day 10.10. is a good day to ask people around you how they are doing, as well as yourself.
How are you doing, in regards of mental health?

How is your mental health, how do you take care of it? What things are challenging and what are nurturing it?

What kind of behaviour, structures and culture are you participating in, and is there something that should change for the benefit of your, and others, mental health?

💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
