Last week our CEO Jacob presented his opinion on Platform Engineering at the DevOps Finland meetup: “Stop polishing turds and start delivering value for your users” 👀 😯

He shared a framework for building user-centric platforms which sparked quite a bit of discussion. The framework is a work in progress (including its name!) and anyone interested in the topic is welcome to help shape it.

💬 It takes a village to raise a child - old proverb

👶 Our CEO, Jacob Lärfors, recently likened Verifa to a growing child, with us as its nurturing parents. While this analogy holds true, Albert believes we're more like a vibrant community, each playing a crucial role in shaping Verifa's future.

A key takeaway from this year’s VeriConf, our annual offsite, was that we need to get our VeriFridays back. 🎯

Due to financial constraints this year, our consultants gave up their VeriFridays to work 100% with customer projects instead of our usual 80%.

❓What is VeriFriday?

VeriFriday is 20% of working time dedicated to professional development and working together as a crew. We might be:

🤓 taking a course to improve our skills
✍️ writing blogs or preparing presentations for a meetup
👨‍💻 working together on an open source project
💬 sharing and discussing ideas to improve Verifa or solve a customer challenge

VeriFridays foster a great company culture as well as benefiting our customers by gaining fresh perspectives and insights from the rest of the crew.

As a wise man once said (looking at you Albert!): “Friday banter generated some of our best ideas to help customers.” 💡

At times it’s a delicate balance between company financial health and crew wellbeing. Thanks to the crew Verifa is now in a better place, so it’s time to bring VeriFridays back 🎉
