Our AI Consultant Leevi Vahvelainen took the stage at NordiCHI 2026 yesterday to share insights from our work on quality assurance for LLM-based solutions. The talk was based on a peer-reviewed industry experience paper by Leevi and Siili’s Lead Designer Amy Järvisalo.

The talk was based on a peer-reviewed industry experience paper by Leevi and Siili’s Amy Järvisalo. The paper explores a practical challenge with LLM solutions: useful behavior, potential failures and acceptable boundaries can be difficult to define upfront. Through the development of an LLM-enabled website search assistant, the work shows how a codesign approach that involves stakeholders directly in testing can help uncover context-specific issues and refine how the system should behave.

Great to see our Siilis bringing hands-on experience into the research community and contributing to the wider conversation around building reliable AI solutions.

Congratulations, Elias Nurmela, on completing your Master's thesis in the Master's Programme in Life Science Technologies at Aalto University!

Elias worked with us at Siili on his thesis exploring data sensitivity-based LLM routing: how enterprise AI applications can decide which AI models are eligible to access different types of data.

As part of the work, Elias built an enterprise AI assistant to put the architecture into practice, with Siili helping to shape the use case and providing the setting for a public-data pilot.

And a special thank you to our own Karoliina Tiuraniemi, who supported and guided Elias throughout the thesis journey as a thesis advisor from the Siili side.

Congratulations once again, Elias. We’re happy to have been part of the journey!

For Linda Hellstén, the appeal was clear: the chance to work close to business, strategy and decision-making in a company at a particularly interesting strategic phase, and the opportunity to dig into the legal questions that come with AI.

Linda joins Siili as General Counsel, bringing experience from supporting executive management and boards at eQ through complex legal, compliance and governance matters. Her experience at eQ and earlier work advising on transactions at Krogerus have taught her to balance different perspectives and find practical solutions — a combination she believes will serve her well at Siili too.

What she’s most looking forward to is working closely with the business and leadership on strategic questions and supporting Siili’s growth. Outside the office? Life with two young daughters, staying active, and music — aspects which are an important part of her life.

“I’m really excited to start this new chapter. I’m looking forward to learning, contributing and being part of a team of smart and ambitious people — and to seeing what we can build together.”

Thank you AI Finland and UpCloud for bringing us together on Tuesday to talk about sovereign AI, and for hosting us at UpCloud’s great rooftop office!

Our AI Principal Tommi Pajala took the stage to challenge six common myths about sovereign AI:
→ It’s too expensive
→ Open-source models can’t be trusted at enterprise scale
→ Sovereignty means sacrificing performance
→ There are no real European alternatives
→ Sovereign AI is only relevant for banks and government
→ It takes 18–24 months to deploy

The reality looks quite different.
European infrastructure, capable open models and practical platforms are already available. And sovereign AI can make sense well beyond regulated industries, especially when companies need stronger control over customer data, IP or trade secrets.

Perhaps most importantly, this can already be put into practice. Tommi also shared our Sovereign Agent Certified example, built on a sovereign setup to help Siilis prepare for technology certifications while keeping strict data governance in place.

Good discussion, practical examples and a great setting to continue the conversation around what sovereign AI actually means for European companies. Thanks again AI Finland, UpCloud and everyone who joined!

Today we published our half-year report 1 January-30 June 2026. Siili's first half of 2026 included both successes and challenges. In response to the weakened revenue and profitability in the first quarter, we launched efficiency measures across the whole Siili Group and continued to accelerate sales.
