Folded Stillness
Marina Suvorova

Wooden art board, texture paste, acrylic
30 × 40 cm

€900
Available directly from the artist
marinasuvorova.com

Why we curated this:
Three-dimensional black is always fascinating. There is something organic, almost nature-inspired in its texture, yet at the same time something distinctly architectural and deliberate. A beautiful dialogue between softness, structure and shadow.

Picture this in:
Do you have white marble in your interior? This could be its perfect companion. Add a touch of dark wood and polished chrome, and let the contrast between smooth surfaces and sculptural texture do the rest.

Vintage Alvar Aalto
Door handle
Brass

Auction estimate €700
Available at Hagelstam & Co

Why we curated this:
We mainly curate and recommend works by living Finnish artists and designers, but a little vintage and antique in between is a delight. Good design is made to last and finding a new place and purpose for existing pieces is very much part of how we think about sustainability.

Picture this in:
On a door, of course. But if you are a true Aalto enthusiast, this is an iconic object in its own right. Imagine it on a wall, simply as a sculptural object on a table, or giving a substantial cabinet door an entirely new character. And what about as a handle of a sliding door? Sliding doors are usually dull.

Viisaus on ulottuvilla (Wisdom Within Reach)
2026

Eija Koski

Organic rye straw and straw bales
150 × 60 × 60 cm

€1,700
Available at Lokal

Why we curated this:
We believe art keeps cultural traditions alive. Through art, knowledge and craftsmanship can be carried from one generation to another, even skills that might otherwise be at risk of disappearing. Here, natural material and traditional handcraft become something distinctly contemporary.

Picture this in:
A space where this work can be encountered from different directions. It immediately tells something about the values of the place: craftsmanship, tradition, nature and continuity, a connection between something ancient and the world we live in now.

Siina Levonoja

Relief
Stoneware

€350
Available at taidelainaamo_hts

Why we curated this:
Nature is an endless source of inspiration. Here, its familiar forms are interpreted with such delicacy and liveliness.

Picture this in:
Do you have a bistro or a gourmet deli? This small sculptural piece could be the finishing touch. Or are you biophiliic person? A little piece of nature on the wall, bringing character and evergreens to the space.

Punainen Kissa Sinisen Suorakaiteen Edessä
(Red Cat in Front of a Blue Rectangle)
2026

Tiitus Petäjäniemi

Acrylic on canvas
40 × 30 cm

€500
Available at Galleria G12

Why we curated this:
Minimalism that brings an aww to your thoughts. Sometimes, if you have a vision, two rectangles and two little ears are all it takes.

Picture this in:
Are you a cat person and a minimalist, maybe an architect? Have you been looking for a cat painting, but never found one minimal enough? This is for you.

Punainen huone (Red Room)
2025

Oil on canvas
180 × 120 cm
Unframed

Anniina Dunder-Berg

€4,580
Available Kuvataiteilija Anniina Dunder-Berg STUDIO BOM / creative community

Why we curated this:
The work feels painterly and deeply human, even though its language is architectural and geometric. The composition suggests a room, a doorway, perhaps another space beyond it, but leaves enough open for the viewer to enter with their own thoughts.

Picture this in:
A space where people stay for a while. Around a table, or in a waiting area, maybe with armchairs. The doorway within the painting gives the mind somewhere else to wander for a moment, before returning to the room again.

Hannu Riikonen
Temppusirkus (Circus of Tricks)
2013

Acrylic paint, gesso, canvas, plywood, wood, plaster filler, adhesives, styrofoam and screws
82 × 156 × 72 cm
25 kg

€6,000 + VAT 10%
Available Veistoskauppa -Sculpture Shop | Galleria Sculptor

Why we curated this:
A playful, almost postmodern form meets Finnish traditional ornament in the painted surface. The combination feels unexpected but strangely familiar, sculptural, humorous and unmistakably rooted in a northern visual language.

Picture this in:
A large space where references to Finnish culture are welcome, but not taken too seriously. Somewhere with enough room for the work to stand freely and let its scale, humour and ornament do the talking. Look at the size of it.

Straberry Taster (Strawberry Taster)
2021

€2,800
Available MunkkiniemenTaidelainaamo

Why we curated this:
Colour without hesitation. Bold, joyful and layered, a work that keeps the eye moving long after the first impression.

Picture this in:
A corridor or transitional space that didn’t exist, never really had a purpose, until the artwork gives you a reason to stop.

Sampo Apajalahti
Memory Room
2025

Acrylic and oil on canvas
50 × 70 cm

€3,600
MAKASIINI CONTEMPORARY

Why we curated this:
The artist has dressed a familiar piece of standard apartment architecture in shades of pink. In reality, this architecture is often defined by grey and neutrality. Yet for many of us, the same kind of view carries something deeply personal: warmth, memory and the feeling of home.
