XO chooses aluminum as the construction material for every hull in its range. A choice that defines the aesthetic of the boat and what happens to it after years at sea.

Unlike fiberglass, aluminum does not require molds to build, each hull is crafted piece by piece by skilled hands, a process that also releases significantly fewer volatile substances into the air during production. When it hits a shallow bottom or a rock it absorbs the impact without compromising the structure. Fiberglass in the same circumstances tends to crack or splinter in a much less predictable way.

It is the same reason why superyacht builders choose aluminum. Less maintenance, fewer unexpected problems, more years at sea.

With the DFNDR 9 it is like having a different boat every time you head out, thanks to its modular spaces that make it suitable for any conditions, weather and use.

The cabin is fully glazed and opens or closes completely. When the sun is intense or the wind picks up you have an enclosed cabin, air-conditioned or heated depending on the season. When conditions are perfect you remove the panels and it becomes a fully open center console.

The aft seats fold into a table with enough space to sit comfortably without feeling cramped, or you can open them up into a wide sunbed to stretch out.

Below deck there is a bed large enough for two adults to sleep without being on top of each other, designed for those who head out with a few days at sea in mind. The bow deck is raised, flat and spacious.

In 2023 the Motor Boat Awards named it Adventure Boat of the Year. Under 30 feet there is very little that comes close to this level of versatility — and that is exactly what it was built for.
