AL Safety Design Ltd was assigned to prove that the suggested system PECASUS would fulfill the strict RAM requirements set by ICAO (RAM = Reliability, Availability and Maintainability).
RAM was one of the criteria in international consortium selection, including the main location (FMI, Helsinki).

ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) is establishing a global Space Weather Information Service (SWxC) that would process and inform about solar events affecting 1.HF-communications, 2.satellite navigation systems and 3.radiation exposure at flight altitudes.
The Finnish Meteorological Institute is a prime candidate for establishing such a center. One of the criteria is a 24/7 uninterrupted service to secure the safety of aviation in case of solar related disturbances.

SMOS is an earth observation satellite, which measures parameter fluctuation that could affect e.g. climate change. SMOS = Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity. The main components of the microwave antenna array and the calibration system were built in Finland, with AL Safety Design Ltd as the PA Manager.

The ESA Planck satellite's LFI-70GHz instrument, designed and built in Finland, is trying to solve a cosmic puzzle by measuring the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation (CMB). It is thought to originate from the so called 'Big Bang'.
The main measuring instrument LFI-70 (Low Frequency Instrument 70 GHz) was built in Finland, as AL Safety Design Ltd responsible for the Product Assurance (PA) Management.
