Based at the Army School of Farriery in Melton Mowbray, I completed my apprenticeship in 2001, achieving the Diploma of the Worshipful Company of Farriers with Honours. As a Qualified Farrier, I was responsible for the shoeing and maintenance of military horses, as well as the training and assessment of farriery apprentices at the school. Further into my military career I undertook a 3 year postin

g, as a Senior Farrier, to the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in Knightsbridge, London. Working within a team of 14 Farriers, I was responsible for the shoeing and maintenance of 300 Cavalry horses, as well as the on-going training of the HCMR farriery apprentices. I left military service in 2005 to pursue a career as a Self-employed Farrier, taking with me the values and standards that were a prerequisite during my time as a Military Farrier.
