Looks like I've been intuitively doing something right (at least with regard to this) for years! No music, if possible, while working on texts; if I need to drown out background noise, something with no lyrics or something I'm extremely familiar with (like "back to the '90s" familiar, CDs I used to have on repeat through my childhood and teens). No new stuff - it's fun to discover new music and the likes of Spotify make it easy to do so, but then I end up listening more and concentrating less on work. Not a good thing when work involves people's thoughts expressed in words.
Music has enriched people's personal lives since the beginning of time, but scientists today have uncovered how best to make music enrich your professional life, too.
