FIVE SIGNS OF DIFFICULT CLIENTS

1. Constantly changes their mind
Difficult clients often struggle to commit to decisions, frequently changing their minds or making last-minute requests, which causes delays, creates inefficiencies, & makes it challenging to deliver the project as initially agreed.

Imagine a client who initially approved the design of a digital ad campaign but then requests multiple rounds of changes because they suddenly want to try a different approach leading to extra work, without fully understanding the impact on timelines and budget.

2. Has unrealistic expectations
These often expect extraordinary results on tight timelines or with limited budgets, ignoring the scope of what’s feasible. They might undervalue the work involved or assume their project is a “quick fix,” leading to dissatisfaction even when high-quality work is delivered.

Imagine a client asks for a custom website with complex features and expects it to be finished in a week. Despite being advised that a project typically takes months, they persist in pressuring you for a rapid turnaround.

3. Micromanage the process
They want to control every aspect of the process and often question the professional’s methods, despite hiring them for their expertise.

Imagine a client who insists on daily check-ins to go over minor updates on the project and provides step-by-step instructions, even on tasks within your area of expertise. They may also question decisions they don’t fully understand, disrupting the workflow.

4. Struggles with communication
Some clients provide unclear instructions, don’t respond to emails promptly, or are inconsistent with feedback. This can cause misalignment in project goals, resulting in wasted time and effort on revisions or redoing work that could have been clarified upfront.

Imagine a client provides initial input for a marketing campaign but takes weeks to respond to follow-up questions. When they finally do reply, they share only vague feedback, making it unclear if they’re happy with the direction or expecting further changes.

5. Negotiates too aggressively on price
Clients who undervalue your services often push for the lowest possible rates, additional discounts, or even freebies. They may agree to terms initially but then expect extra services without additional payment, leading to tension and potential issues with payment collection.

Imagine a client agrees to a package deal but continuously asks for “small extras” beyond the agreed scope. They might ask for “a quick add-on” or assume minor changes won’t incur extra charges, which cumulatively takes considerable time and resources.

Recognizing these signs early can help you set boundaries, manage expectations, and decide if the client relationship is worth pursuing or not.

Here's an often-overlooked aspect of email marketing: crafting compelling subject lines that get your emails opened.

A subject line can make or break the success of any email.

Yet, it’s frequently left until the end of the writing process.

This approach is a major mistake!

Think creatively about this crucial element of your emails.

The subject line is the most important part and should be defined before you write anything else.

Even though I have stated that it's email marketing, the principles apply to any email outreach.

The Curiosity Gap
After analyzing over 5000 clients' emails, I've noticed a pattern. Emails with the highest open rates share a common feature: the "Curiosity Gap" technique in their subject lines. It is a straightforward way to introduce the topic of your email while sparking interest.

Here’s a 5-step strategy using this technique:

1: Identify a common pain point
Start by identifying a specific problem your audience faces.
For example, a typical issue in the small business niche might be "finding reliable ways to increase website traffic."

2: Hint at a solution
Suggest a solution without entirely giving it away. It creates the "Curiosity Gap"—the space between what a reader knows and what they want to discover.
Mastering this will boost your email open rates.

3: Use numbers
People love the specificity. Numbers in subject lines tend to perform well because they promise concrete information.
Non-round numbers (17% or 29 mins) stand out more than round numbers (10% or 20 mins).

4: Keep it short
Use subject lines of 50 characters or less. This is typically the cutoff for subject lines that perform well, likely due to how many characters email platforms display in the inbox.
Note: This works for me, test to see what resonates with your audience.

5: Avoid spam trigger words
"Free" and "Guarantee" can trigger spam filters, sending your email to spam folders even if the reader wants to receive it.

Here’s an example:
❌"Free guide to improve your SEO!"
✔️ "5 easy steps to boost your SEO ranking fast"
Why does the second subject line work?
It addresses a pain point (boosting SEO ranking)
It hints at a solution without revealing it (5 easy steps)
It uses a specific number (5)
It’s short (44 characters)
It avoids spam trigger words

I encourage you to use the Curiosity Gap technique and analyze your own results.

Remember, a great subject line is just the beginning.

Your email content must deliver on the promise of your subject line to maintain your open rates over time.

Unpopular Yet Life-Changing Post!

At the beginning of May, I decided to learn a new skill: digital marketing.

I noticed that some people in my circles were talking a lot about selling digital products and digital marketing, so I decided to give it a shot.

I binged a course and, within 48 hours, I had completed the 30-module course.

On the 7th of May, I launched my fully automated business selling digital products on TikTok.

I focused on this new venture 100% because I wanted to ensure that if I succeeded, it wasn’t by luck. And if I failed, I would know I gave everything, but it just didn’t work.

As of today, I have generated €34k in revenue selling digital products, and that’s in less than a month.

Even though I already have two successful businesses with 25 employees globally, I had gotten comfortable with the progress, so I needed to do something different.

Why Am I Sharing This?
Inspiration: To show that it's never too late to learn a new skill and benefit from it too.
Opportunity: To highlight the potential of digital marketing and selling digital products.
Motivation: To encourage others to step out of their comfort zones and pursue new ventures.
Support: To offer guidance and share what worked for me, in hopes it can help others too.

This Is What I Realized!
Flexibility: This kind of business is incredibly flexible, allowing you to work from anywhere. anytime. You don't need to leave your job if you don't want to.
Low Startup Costs: It’s very cheap to start, making it accessible to almost anyone.
Low Risk, High Reward: The risks are minimal, yet the profit potential is high.
Mindset: If you are coachable, you will win at anything. But if you think that you know it all, you will miss out on so many opportunities. No one is too successful to learn something new.
Extra Income: An extra €34k/month won't kill you, but it will motivate you.
