Our History
Treekams Group of Companies is an amalgamation of privately owned companies wholly owned by the Treekam family. The first establishment was in 1974 in Labasa under the banner of Treekam Garments Manufacturing Co Ltd by Mr Natwarlal Treekam. What started as a small manufacturer of garments rapidly grew into a medium size business with its distribution reaching to greater parts of Fiji and the outer islands. In 1985, Mr Rohit Treekam, the eldest son of Natwarlal, decided to venture on his own and set up a denim manufacturing plant in Lautoka as Just Jeans Distributors. As time went by, an opportunity arose to become a franchisee of the international denim brand, LEE which was controlled and franchised by The HD Lee Company in Hong Kong. This franchise partnership contributed greatly to the success and identity of the company. Growth to International Market
In 1988, the export market opened up in Fiji. Rohit grabed this opportunity and quickly became a TFF factory (Tax Tree Factory under SPARTECA) through an export oriented entity, Treekams Apparel Limited. Major international markets that were reached out to, but not limited to included USA, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands (PIF). The customers also ranged to some very big brands in US and Australia. This was an endorsement on its own of our delivery of quality garments at the time due to their affiliation with Treekams. With this venture came a commitment to invest into property and grow its business from a custom built factory at 2 Kasala Mall. This transitioned into rapid growth in sales and technology. Treekams created some great trading partnerships and expertise in its own niche market. Tapping into Retail
Stitching fashion garments and having the edge of creating its own unique styles prompted yet another timely opportunity into retail. Just Jeans Pte Ltd was now having a retail outlet right in the Centre of Lautoka City. The stock ranged from extensive in-house product developed and a very fashionable range imported from Australia, India, Thailand and other parts of Asia. Its prime establishment was inspired to offer a distinctive retail experience to consumers in Fiji. The Re-structure
In 1994, Sanjeet Treekam, the youngest son of Natwar joined the company after finishing his studies in New Zealand. This was when the years of experience and the injection of fresh ideas brought about the merger of companies and re-structuring of its operations took place to reflect the fresh initiatives and marketing tact that were soon to be implemented. The biggest merger was of two great manufacturing entities, Treekam Garments Manufacturing Co Ltd and Just Jeans Distributors to become Treekams Textiles Limited. Treekams Textiles Limited had its focus on manufacturing and wholesaling to the local domestic retailers and corporate market. An array of products included denim wear, casual clothing for men, women and children. Treekams strengthened on becoming Fiji’s most reputable and established denim wear manufacturers. The marketing was so intense that name was out in the newspapers, radio, television and even hitting the cat walks of Lautoka, Nadi and Suva with a very successful model search. Just Jeans Limited also extended its outlets to numerous stores in Lautoka and Suva. In a Glimpse Today
