Employment Opportunity – Apprentice Beekeepers
Position: Apprentice Beekeepers
We are recruiting 6 motivated young people to join our apprenticeship program in professional beekeeping. We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage all genders to apply. The selected candidates will be required to attend a 6-month Training and Probation period before confirmation of employment, first three months’ candidates will be paid a training allowance and second three months’ candidates will be paid basic rate of $5/hour. Housing will be available during this period. We have a 6-day work week or 48 hours a week.
Eligibility:
• Aged 16–18 years
• Completed High School, with:
o Applied Technology and Technical Drawing (Year 11-12)
o Commercial Studies (Year 9–10)
o Basic metal work would be an advantage
o Basic automotive knowledge would be an advantage
o Able to qualify for learner permit for Driving
o Played competitive sports during school
o Able to cook clean and maintain clean work environment
o Have self-discipline
o Can Do Attitude
• No previous employment since leaving school
• Reasonable command of English
• Able to use technology to communicate
Physical & Personal Requirements:
• Minimum weight: 60 kg at time of application
• Enjoys outdoor work and hands-on tasks
• Common sense, reliable, and practical
• Able to follow instructions
• Have attention to detail
• Non-smoker, non-drinker
• Enjoys physical hard labour
• Not allergic to bees and wasps
• Able to work alone or in very small teams
• Physically fit and strong (lifting heavy weights is a necessity)
• Willing to live away from family for extended periods
