Sous-Chef / Chalet Chef in Val D’Isére, France
Seasonal Independent Contractor
Start Date: 25th November until 5th May (flexible; can start in December and finish at the end of April)
Salary:€4000 - €4300 per month (candidates that can issue an invoice pls)

We are seeking a talented Sous-Chef / Chalet Chef to join our world-class team for the winter season. This hybrid role involves assisting a head chef, often a Michelin-starred professional, during rental weeks and serving as the head chef for the owners and their families during exclusive stays. This is a key position in maintaining the chalet’s high culinary standards, providing both fine dining for guests and nourishing meals for staff.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate culinary excellence, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a luxury hospitality environment
Responsibilities :
- Assist the head chef with preparation and ex*****on of all meals for guests.
- Prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for chalet staff (up to 7 team members)
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the professional kitchen.
- Serve as the main chef for the owner and their family (up to 10 adults and several children).
- Design and execute custom menus based on the owners' preferences, providing a 5-star culinary experience.
- Maintain high standards of presentation and flavour for every meal, whether casual or fine dining.
- Collaborate with other chalet staff ( housekeeping, drivers, etc.) to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are strictly followed
Requirements :
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a sous-chef or head chef, preferably in luxury hospitality or fine dining.
- Strong knowledge of French cuisine and international dishes
- Ability to work under Michelin-level chefs and learn quickly
- Comfortable cooking for both high-profile guests and staff, adjusting styles as needed.
- Professional, discrete, and highly adaptable to the needs of VIP guests
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for excellence
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a small, close-knit team
- Friendly, approachable, and respectful with a positive attitude
- Must be able to invoice as an independent contractor
- Must be able to work 38-43 hours per week (with flexibility based on guest presence).
- Willing to share accommodation with the Head Housekeeper
- No ski pass is included, but a seasonal pass is available for approximately €600.
Package :
€4000 - €4300 per month (invoiced)
