If you’re an entrepreneur, I bet you’ve read that you should be active on social media more times than you should count 🫠

But if you feel like creating content is a time suck or that you feel like you’re just screaming into the void you might be wondering whether it’s even worth the time and energy.

So is it?

Yes.

Because whatever your business, you need people to invest in your brand. People invest in brands that they know, like and trust, and social media helps you to build that connection 🤩

If you want IG to be more light me up instead of time suck, try one of these:

Make a list of what is working for you and what isn’t. You can’t fix a problem if you don’t know what it is!

Batch create content when you’re feeling inspired so you have things to work with when you’re less inspired or have less time.

Decide what content you actually enjoy creating. You have to find a balance between what you enjoy and what resonates with your audience, but if you’re enjoying your content it’s much more likely your audience will too.

Give yourself permission to play around with things, you don’t have to choose one thing and stick to it forever.

Let me know what you’re going to try first, and follow for the tips you need to build a thriving community, establish your brand, and generate more sales by showing up consistently on social media.

The saying ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ always makes me laugh, because I can’t be the only person to have bought books specifically because I like the cover.

I might even have multiple copies on the same book because they have different covers (I'm looking at you Penguin Clothbound Classics 👀)

It's so easy to get caught up in how things look because logos and brand colours are fun!

And though there’s plenty of science to back up why we’re drawn to pretty things, here’s why it can be counterproductive for your brand.

We can spend hours ‘perfecting’ our brand visuals, crafting the ‘perfect’ logo, and curating a beautiful aesthetic.

But all of that is just the surface level of your brand, because what truly matters is how our brand makes people feel.

Think about it. Have you ever come across a brand that made you feel understood, inspired, or even empowered?

That feeling sets a brand apart and builds a loyal community of followers, and that feeling isn’t something that happens by accident.

A beautiful visual identity is important, but the magic happens when your brand actually resonates with your people the way you want it to.

What brands are you super loyal to?

Let’s talk about the importance of branding!

Having a cohesive brand is essential, but it’s more than just a logo or a set of colours - it’s the way that your potential clients see your business.

If you’re intentional with your brand, it means that you control the narrative around your business, and you can shape the way that people think about your business and what it stands for 🔥🔥🔥

The absence of an intentional brand means that you run the risk of people making assumptions, which may or may not be true 😬

Are you intentional with your branding?

🤬 There is nothing I hate more than novelty kitchen items. You know, the ladle shaped like the Loch Ness monster, or the whisk shaped like a rocket.

I’m 100% specifically talking about a pizza cutter that is somewhere in my kitchen. I cut my pizza with scissors, so a pizza cutter is superfluous anyway, but this pizza cutter is shaped like a bicycle, both wheels are cutters so it doesn’t cut straight and honestly, neither my husband or myself even like cycling anyway.

🎯All this to say, design should have a PURPOSE. The design elements of your brand should be about reflecting you in a way that speaks to your target audience.

If you’re not sure about what your brand is saying, ask a few people you trust to give you 3 adjectives that describe your Instagram profile of website.

Imposter syndrome shows up in so many sneaky ways, it can be easy to miss until you realise you’re questioning everything you post on social media.

If this sounds familiar, take a look at your services/offers and how they’re ACTUALLY helping people.

Look back at your testimonials and client feedback to remind yourself of the amazing job that you're doing!

If you’re ready to amplify your voice on social media and reach more people, DM me the word ENQUIRE for more info!

Does social media make you feel bad because you see other people succeeding where you’re struggling?

Maybe you keep searching for that one tip that will remove the overwhelm and make everything easy, but all the information just adds to the overwhelm and it feels like your fault that you’re struggling.

Stop scrolling.

You don’t need more inspiration, tips, hacks or whatever name you use to pretend you’re not just procrastinating making your own content.

Start showing up as YOU.

When you create content, ask yourself one question:

does this actually feel like me?

If the answer is yes, then you’re good to go. If the answer is no, ask yourself why and then fix that.

That’s the whole strategy. Keep it simple, and just go for it.

Have you ever managed to say the alphabet backward?

No? Me neither.

Doing things backwards can work sometimes though!

If creating valuable content is a struggle for you, working backwards can be the fresh perspective you need.

Start with your conclusion, the main point you want your audience to take away. Then write the steps they need to take to get there.

What would you do with that time?

But more importantly, how would that extra time feel?

For me, it would feel like freedom, focus or peace.

What if I told you I could give you 5 more hours a week? I can’t add more time to your days, but I can take over tasks that would give you that time back!

A couple of ways I currently support clients are:

💻 Social media content creation

📅 Content calendar creation

✍️ Caption writing

If you’re reading this thinking, “Yes! Take this off my plate, I want that extra time!” head to the link in my bio to fill out an enquiry form, I can’t wait to hear from you ✨️

Soooo my toxic trait is planning and writing endless lists of plans, routines and goals but not working out an action plan to achieve any of it.

I’m so aware though that actual progress is made by taking small, consistent steps, not one giant leap.

Two things I want to make progress on are:

✦ being as consistent with creating content for my business as I am for my clients

✦ getting better at learning French

The small steps I’m going to be taking are scheduling time into my calendar for content creation, and keeping my 92 day streak going on Duolingo!

What small step do you need to take to reach your goals? Let me know in the comments so I can cheer you on!

Do you know how you want your clients to feel?

Clarifying your brand adjectives will help define how you want your clients to feel so that you can evaluate whether your current messaging matches up with that.

You can use your brand adjectives to create your visual identity, but also to discover your target audience and give you a guideline for your business.

Which words define your brand? Let me know in the comments.

Do you know how many cons there are for using consistent branding for your business? None.

Every person who interacts with your brand leaves with a certain perception of it, and all the content you share adds or subtracts from that perception.

Having consistent branding is beneficial to your potential clients as it’s a key part of building the know-like-trust factor.

It also streamlines your marketing process and saves you time, so it really is a win-win.

If you’re ready for consistent branding but need a helping hand to get there, send me a DM or book a discovery call through the link in my bio.

If I asked you what type of person your ideal client is you’d likely (hopefully!) be able to give me a fairly specific answer.

Your ideal clients are the only people your business needs to resonate with.

Here’s the thing, when it comes to building your brand the only people you need to think about are your ideal client and yourself.

Do you feel like your brand speaks to your target audience or are you trying to speak to everyone?

Feel free to send me a DM if this is something you need help with!
