🌏✈️ A small reminder for globetrotters or those who live in different countries over the year including France, like one of my clients:
Living in France less than 6 months doesn't mean that you can't be considered tax resident in France. The 6 month rule is not absolute. You can be deemed tax resident in France if you spend more time in France than in another country! 💰⏳👀

TIPS FOR RESIDENCY APPLICATION AS A BRITISH CITIZEN 👍
Some British expats have lived in France using their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) but if they mean to apply for French residency, they should be aware that the EHIC will not be accepted as proof of health cover. Indeed this document grants no health rights if you are permanently resident and can be used only by visitors for temporary stays in France (or EU).

In those foolish times, it looks like time stood still...
Handling any paperwork tasks has become more complicated than it usually is.
Different ordonnances lays out extensions for most of procedures.
Here are some examples:
- Long stay visas and titres de séjour that expired during the lockdown benefit from an automatic three-month extension, which means that people holding a long stay visa that expired during lockdown can legally stay even after their visa expiration (ordonnance n°2020-328 of March 25th).
- The controle technique vehicle safety certificates that expire during lockdown also benefit from an extension which means that people can keep driving legally even after the certificate expiration (ordonnance n° 2020-306 of March 25th).
- But if you have been in a process of purshasing a property, the 10 day cooling off period after signing the first act keep running. Indeed, after deciding by an ordonnance of March 25th, that the 10 day cooling off period was supended , an other ordonnance published on April 16th notices that finally, this period keeps running. The goal is not to slow down the process of buying/selling a property (ordonnance n°2020-427 of April 15th).

Planning to move to Bordeaux or maybe already living in Bordeaux?
Hi there! I’m Diane. I was born and raised in Paris with my parents who moved there from Vietnam. From birth, I knew that people could live in another country other than their own. Growing up we had two cultures at home, French and Vietnamese. But that was the norm for me.
As a teenager, I went on several foreign exchanges in Ireland to be immersed in another culture as well as the English language. I was welcomed by an Irish family and stayed with them to get to know their way of life. I experienced cultural shock! Everything was new: the language, the habits, the food (I had never missed the French food that much!)... It made me grow.
Then, as soon as I could, I started to travel to different countries and continents: the East coast of the USA, Mexico, Vietnam, Islands in the South of Africa, some countries in Europe... I loved every single trip.
Several years ago, I decided to leave everything, move to London on my own to start a new job and find a place to live. I needed to experience something new, on my own. It was the first time I ever set foot in England and one of the best adventures of my life! At first, I didn’t know anyone! I didn’t know the city. I didn’t even know a lot of English. But I did it. Alone. And I loved it so much!
After London, I went back to Paris and started my new job as a lawyer in a big company. After 8 years, I felt like I needed a change. I traveled to Australia and New Caledonia for a long 2 month trip with my family. I loved it! The time away made me realise that I was ready to leave Paris for good. I was pregnant for the 2nd time and felt that Paris wasn’t the right place for me to raise my children. So, we decided to leave friends and family and sell our house and moved to Bordeaux.
We’ve been living here, in Bordeaux, for the past 3 years and I’m still in love with this stunning region. It is such a great place to raise children. We have the best of both worlds. Close to the city centre, the ocean, vineyards, mountains and forests. We enjoy going to the beach or the forest anytime the weather permits. And we’re always discovering the hidden jewels that Bordeaux has to offer.
So yes, for now, I’m staying here! But I am still dreaming of living abroad...
That’s why I decided to help other people coming from all around the world to relocate to our beautiful region or expats already living here. I want their new life to be a great experience. I want them to feel at home here. I want them to enjoy it and just like myself, I want them to fall in love with Bordeaux!
