As part of our Peanut Allergy Dictionary series, we’re taking a closer look at “Anaphylaxis.”

A severe allergic reaction that can happen quickly and potentially become life-threatening after exposure to an allergen like peanuts. During anaphylaxis, the immune system releases a flood of chemicals that can cause symptoms like a sudden drop in blood pressure and narrowed airways that make breathing difficult.

What makes it especially challenging is how unpredictable reactions can be, varying in timing and severity; which is why awareness, and preparedness are so important for families living with food allergies. It's part of the daily reality many families navigate, and a reminder of why continued progress in food allergy care matters so much.

Next up in our Peanut Allergy Dictionary series, we’re breaking down the term Epicutaneous Immunotherapy (EPIT): a potential treatment approach that introduces an allergen to the immune system through the skin. This approach may lower the risk of systemic allergic reactions while helping retrain the immune system over time.

often starts in early childhood and can last into adulthood. For many families, this means years of daily caution, lifestyle changes, and emotional stress.

We understand that food allergy management can feel overwhelming, and that every person’s journey is unique. That’s why we’re developing options that may allow families to take a more proactive approach to care.

As part of our commitment to meeting patients where they are on their journey, we plan to expand our clinical research to include infants aged 6–12 months with peanut allergy.

In addition to clinical evidence across age groups, we believe our patch technology has the potential to change the course of peanut allergy in children. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4vwi1ck
