A view from the weekend 🌸

On a very frosty chilly morning in February I made my way through the Andaines Forest towards Mortree, in the Orne department of France. I was heading to a small pottery studio of a friend of a friend. A session of playing with clay and trying out the potter’s wheel. It was wonderful, we made coasters and pots. From memory my first real try at a potter’s wheel even though I went to art college. The results of this day are two beautiful little pots and 8 coasters with my own floral designs on. I cannot take credit for the beauty of glaze as this was finished by the potter herself and then fired in the kiln on another day. A lovely lunch and some cat cuddles 🥰A perfect day. I always think it’s beneficial to try out another medium other than your own discipline as so many thoughts and ideas came from this day. I also get to display my flowers from the garden in them!

A whistle stop tour (1 hour 45 mins)of Rennes last week after an appointment. Lovely weather. Beautiful buildings. Inspiring shop displays. Outstanding cathedral. Great atmosphere! 🎉 Would visit again 😂

Who would have thought it!? This is the bestseller so far this year. Always a tough guess and no-one here at the studio got it right! 🏡 However, it is cute ☺️

On my recent trip back to the UK to catch up with friends and family, my mum, dad and I spent a few days in the beautiful coastal town of Scarborough. Lucky with the weather with explored each day. Taking in the back streets and walkways, hidden parks and gardens and not forgetting the wide open sea view. We came across the art gallery in the old Sitwell Residence. It’s called Woodend and is a grade two listed marine villa built in 1835. There was a wonderful ceramic exhibition on while we were there by which we thoroughly enjoyed. I loved her sketchbooks that showed here workings and ideas and inspirations. With afternoon tea and a theatre visit thrown in we had the best time! It really is a place to meander and take in all the beautiful old buildings and details 🌊
